I recieved this story via e-Mail and it will appear on the MRC.Org website later today.
BTW, I wonder if Jennings will show some hilarious Janeane Garofalo clips of her having one of her many mental meltdowns on the air?

Let's take a different point of view on this stupidity of Mr. Robbins: Standing up and making a statement that runs contrary to popular opinion has always meant that you may suffer the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune." Many great people have done so. Mr. Hussein didn't want to hear anyone disagree with him or bring him bad news and he dealt harshly with those who did. Is that what Mr. Robbins wants for America? Since Mr. Robbins thinks he's making just such an unpopular statement, he must be willing to let it stand the test of time and scrutiny. Even our president must do the same and surely Mr. Robbins is not above Mr. Bush.

With ABC losing viewers at every turn, I see a Peter Jennings slowly sinking into irrelevance obscurity.

"Free Speech" does not mean freedom from any personal responsibility for the inevitable consequences that follow from one's speech.
The notion that "rights" are so absolute as to be utterly divorced from any responsibility for the consequences of their exercise is logically contradictory, practically impossible, and ultimately destructive to the political system that upholds those rights in the first place.

You have to love these "Useful Idiots". For the last twenty years these morons have never been challenged on most of the things they say. That has all changed since 9-11 things have changed. The conservative majority in this country has awoken from its slumber. All "Useful Idiots" will be challenged to defend their statements going forward. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen!

Robbins, the boob, in near hysteria is still irrelevant.

How do these idiots get dressed in the morning anyway?
No one is prohibiting our oh-so-hip celebrities from opening
their pie-hole and illustrating just exactly why it is, among other things, the modern democratic party is a complete disaster. I don't want them to shut up - every utterance and pronouncement just digs the hole they're in even deeper. They either don't get it and never will, or worse, do get it but feel compelled to spew verbal diahareah in deference to job security, to impugn the integrity of our leaders but claim they "support the troops"... Remember these folks are always among the first up against the wall in any totalitarian society - not because of any pressing political need, but merely because they are so damn annoying. Presumably it would increase the quality of entertainment as well.

And, and we have a terrible track record as far as our military leading to democracy. Look at Panama, look at Nicaragua. It's not, it's not in our best interest for some reason to keep it going." Does Germany, Japan, and Italy count?
To: PJ-Comix
So, Peter Jennings thinks free speach and the ability to organize is a terrible threat to the world. Maybe in his little world.

Tim Robbins is implying that this back lash from the public is really coming from the white house. Let me firmyl tell you Mr. Robbins and all of your idiot liberal morons....it is the public who doesn't agree with your politics....it is the public who were outraged with the Dixie Chickens. Not once did President Bush or Dick Cheney call my house and tell me to protest liberal Hollywood....no, that was me....I chose to protest liberal Hollywood! Welcome to freedom of speech.

Rich celebrities worried about being silenced??? Oh my, it hurts their pocketbooks to see them whine about the public having enough of the toxic Anti-American sewage that issues from their mouths!

What an interesting interpretation of freedomn these people have. They get to say what they want, and we should be made to buy what they're selling in spite of it. Sorry, Robbins. It doesn't work that way. Sounds like you're thinking of Saddamn's Iraq. No wonder you miss it.

I remember years ago, Joan Rivers of all people, saying basically that if 10% of the population likes you, you are a HUGE star, and that it doesn't really matter that the other 90% hate your guts.
In fact, you can get rich saying things you don't even believe, that you know will enrage the vast majority of people, because a certain segment of the population will LOVE you just because most people HATE you, right or wrong.
I think Garafalo, Robbins, Sarandon, et. al might be busier than ever, even though "everyone" hates them now. For example, if Garafalo wrote a nonsensical, vacuous anti-establishment book, every lefty in America would rush out and buy it, whereas in the past, nobody on the left or right would have any particular reason to.
They might lose a few mainstream gigs, but their identified segment of wierdos will deify them and champion them at every turn.

Tomorrow on the broadcast, the well organized and aggressive efforts to make life very difficult for celebrities who speak out against the war.
Can I join this Organization?! LOL.
Cause and effect... too straightforward for the likes of Peetah to comprehend apparently.

So Tim Robbins is upset that celebrities should have to suffer any consequences for their utterances. He's all for free speech, or so he says.
Where was Tim, then, when Dr. Laura was boycotted?

Look, the same high-priced PR firms that comvince us that the no-talent celebrities are rocket scientists and convince the no-talent slugs, as well, also work for Jennings and the other celebrities who read the news.
Do you think the pimp allows anyone to believe that all his girls aren't well worth the money or that one is better than another? Same thing with these celebrities. Jennings has to defend these warts. In doing so, he defends himself, a guy making millions to do a job that most college communications majors could do as well, if not better.

"if you would disagree with this administration you can and will be punished."
I love how celebs all want they're freedom of speech but when their FANS (not the administration) calls them out on how wrong they are, they get all defensive and start crying becasue nobody agrees with their opinions. Look at the Dixie Chicks, they upset they're whole fan base and I'm sure the administration wasn't sending messages over TNN. Tim Robins, when did he even become a celebrity?
