Is this supported by the owner of Free Republic?

They've ignored FR in past years -- we had the votes, it didn't matter. The Webby's are all about nothing but vanity. All about PC.

Keep in mind that the Webby Awards is sponsored by the same folks that brought you the Michael Moore Oscar debacle.

These are the Alexa.com rankings. The lower the number the more popular the site. For instance, Yahoo.com is ranked #1. This is the list of nominees in the Activism category:
Traffic Rank for freerepublic.com: 758 Traffic Rank for workingforchange.com: 11,940
Traffic Rank for greenpeace.org: 16,237
Traffic Rank for wri.org: 46,362
Traffic Rank for janegoodall.org: 245,234
Traffic Rank for voiceyourself.com: 278,572
In the only voting that matters Freerepublic.com is orders of magnitude higher ranked than any of the nominated activism sites.
Personally I do not consider Freerepublic primarily an activism site. It is a news discussion forum.

Freerepublic would more appropriately be placed under the "Community" or "Politics" categories.

I recommend FR to everyone. Even when they don't agree with the politics, they all agree that is one of the best sources for news on the web.
But on the activism side, we are all aware Gore would probably be in the Whitehouse if not for Freeper activism. Remember all those SoreLoserman signs?
And that is the greatest award we can get. It makes DU'ers grind their teeth, that we are here spreading conservative knowledge. And if not for Nader and FR, we might have Gore the Beard handling the war on terror.
But it probably would be more of a "whimper on terror", if the past activities of his former boss are any indication.
To: I still care
Gore would probably be in the Whitehouse if not for Freeper activismno. Don't get too excited about the influence of FR on politics. It is practically nil as far as getting actual voters out to vote for a preferred candidate.
It is a good source of news, and an occasional source of topics for talk radio hosts.
The voters that swing elections are the passive, apolitical types who have been energized to go out and vote. They do not actively go online to find a Republican discussion forum to determine if and how they will vote.
Those that come to FR already know how they will vote.

I didn't mean that people came to FR to find out how to vote. But it is a primary source for talk show hosts, etc, who then dispense much of this news in THEIR forums.
Many times I have heard news and talk people quoting articles that not only appeared on FR, but making a reference to some of the postings (although they never give credit). And I know they are getting the info from FR.
And I remember seeing the SoreLoserman signs on TV and in the newspapers - sometimes it doesn't take much to create an image that remains in peoples minds.

I voted. There were many sites to vote on. I chose only politics and FR as a write in. Any other suggestions for categories FR would be an excellent choice in?

A god are you? Say hi to Odin and Zeus for me. Tell Frigga I really don't miss her at all. Thanks!
