Saddam Deserved Defeat: "Not by you, but by the Iraqi people." Mohammed al-Douri
FoxNews, AP - from a BBC interview. ^ | June 16, 2003

Posted on 06/16/2003 1:14:04 PM PDT by Ragtime Cowgirl

(EX-Iraqi ambassador Mohammed) Al-Douri was the first senior Iraqi official to acknowledge that the war was lost after U.S. troops overran Baghdad on April 9. He has not returned to Baghdad, contrary to orders issued to all Iraqi ambassadors last month, and is believed to be in the United Arab Emirates. The BBC said the interview took place in the Gulf.

Asked if Saddam's regime deserved to be toppled, al-Douri said: "Not by you, but by the Iraqi people." Former Iraqi Ambassador Says Saddam Deserved Defeat, AP.

Gee, BBC and Mr. al-Douri, why didn't we think of that? We could have saved billions of US $$$ and the lives of some of the most honorable people on earth. Our troops are still there - rounding up YOUR bad guys and rebuilding YOUR country.

“The Iraqi people tried but failed to remove Saddam Hussein for 35 years. It was a difficult task, and we thank the Americans.”
Sayyed Bashir al-Musawi, an Iraqi cleric in northern Baghdad, The Dallas Morning News, 5/20/03

Mr. al-Douri, how many tried to remove Saddam and died? How many of YOUR Iraqi people had family members tortured and murdered for TRYING to overthrow Saddam? They couldn't. WE did. Our honorable MILITARY did. THIS courageous American President did.

Americans, Westerners gave their LIVES to free YOUR people.

They are NOT interested in "occupying" Iraq and YOU know it...having "occupied" a posh NY residence near the UN for years...while YOUR people were suffering.

The Iraqi people are welcome, Mr. al-Douri.

#1. If this little weasel is saying this I am more sure Saddam is dead.
#2. Iraqi's can't even clean up their own waste and streets. They let their children go run and play in mine fields. Yes they would have got Saddam out after his death from old age !

Then why didn't the peepsqueak do something about Saddam if he thinks the Iraqi people should have done something. He was fat, dumb, and happy at the UN and enjoyed Saddam in power.

What a weasel!

Saddam Deserved Defeat: "Not by you, but by the Iraqi people." -Mohammed al-Douri

True, but not relevant. The Iraqi people were not able to dump Saddam. It's not easy to topple a ruler from the inside. A military defeat for the Republican Guard was necessary.

I'd be feeling more gracious after our swift victory if the world wankers weren't re-writing history daily.

Not even one thank you from the NGOs, the UN, the "caring" socialists. Our troops are the good guys. They're the sore losers.

Bottom line: Saddam, the mass-murderer is never, ever coming back - thanks to President Bush, Gen. Franks, SOD Rumsfeld, our awesome troops - thanks to the U. S. of A., and our awesome Coalition allies!

NOT a gloat-free zone. Our troops, our country and our President deserve better from OUR press.

Good point! He did give this interview from an undisclosed location. Hmmm...

The Iraqi people were so controlled by Saddam they needed permission from the state to say and do just about everything. They are eager to learn, though, and are now cleaning their own streets....and far more that goes unreported by the press.

Check out the daily CENTCOM log: COALITION EFFORTS TO AID IRAQ’S RECOVERY. Read the Voices of Freedom quotes above. The Iraqi people are grateful.

Those who are working to undermine our efforts to stabilize Iraq know where to find the press.

"Not by you, but by the Iraqi people."

He certainly DID deserve to be defeated by us. Whether or not the Iraqi people also deserved to defeat him remains to be seen. I'm not overly optimistic - the Religion of PeaceTM has quite a stranglehold on that country. We may end up wishing for the good ol' Saddam days somewhere down the road.

Isn't al-Douri still hiding out in the UAE? He should try this schtick in Baghdad and see where it gets him...

He dare not go home...and the Iraqi people are choosing to stay in Iraq. What's an "objective" BBC reporter do? Quote Combover's anti-Coalition comments - of course.

Yes. There's a whole lot of anti-American hate being spread. Al Jazeera, I think, learned from BBC and CNN. Arab mosques, I think, learned from the NEA.

We still don't know who else in the press Saddam 'bought'. The press, surprise, isn't covering that major scandal. Stay tuned...

Thank goodness for the internet.

BTW, last night (about 9 PM PDT), the ABC Radio newsreader included this story in the topic of the hour news. From time to time, the leftist newsreaders will say something snide about the President. This time, he said (don't know who it was) something like them not being grateful to the liberators." I was stunned. Anyone else hear this?

Thank you for that info, bootless. I usually hit the "mute" for radio news breaks. It's a hopeful sign...if the truth could just win out over the next day's DNC war spin room talking points and the VLWC peer pressure.

Resistance is not futile.

I was shocked, and had to check with my co-worker to verify what I heard. I thought it was the BBQ sauce making me hallucinate. Now, I don't believe any newscast should have editorializing, and he really shouldn't have done that, but as we all know, the leftist slant is so rampant that I didn't really mind that much.

There is hope!

Bull crap.

Either they are for freedom or they are for Saddam. There is no third party ganging up with Saddam against the US presence. It is unacceptable.

I agree, but what comment(s) are you responding to?

You are either for Freedom or you're for Saddam would make a great tag line.
