Good Morning from the GoE.

A few weeks ago, I suggested the idea of going to a specific website to show our support towards the brave people of Iran on July 9th. i know you have had an awful lot going on, but has there been any progress on that idea, as I want to play my part on that historical day. I have already signed two petitions, on the Students Movement's website and an separate petition to Mr Annan at the Dis-United Nations.

Any suggestions into where the best place to be to protest on July 9th on the Web???

Iran holds over 300 - Most Saudis, Kuwaitis

A majority of the over 300 al-Qaeda members being held in Iran are Kuwaitis and Saudis, says an informed source. The source told Al-Anba Iran's Ministry of Security has prepared a list on the identities and names of al-Qaeda members held in its prisons. "Tehran, however, prefers, not to reveal the names and nationalities of the detainees because most of them are Kuwaitis and Saudis," he added.

"The total number of al-Qaeda members held in Iran exceeds 300. Most of them have been involved in major terror plots and attacks. We, therefore, do not wish to aggravate tension between Riyadh and Washington, in particular," said the source.

Iranian sources had earlier confirmed Iranian intelligence officials are involved in secret negotiations with Arab and international intelligence officials, including the British intelligence, to discuss the fate of al-Qaeda detainees.

The source said, meanwhile, Tehran does not wish a military or political escalation with the United States. "Iran does not also wish international nuclear weapons inspectors to commence their inspection duties in Iran without a prior agreement and on the basis of international agreements.

The source affirmed Tehran does not want to produce weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons. He added such nuclear capabilities will economically be a burden on Iran, especially when it is heavily involved in economic reforms.

The source reiterated Iran is ready to open up all of its nuclear installations to international inspectors to ensure Iran is free of any military or armament activity. He stressed international inspectors should not be granted permission to expand inspection activities without an international resolution.

Iran’s judiciary chief to visit Saudi Arabia

The head of Iran’s judiciary is to visit Saudi Arabia for talks there with top officials, a spokesman said, amid signs that Iran has detained and is seeking to extradite high-ranking members of the Al Qaeda network.

Judiciary spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham told the official IRNA news agency that Ayatollah Mahmud Hashemi-Shahrudi will begin his two-day visit to the desert kingdom on Saturday, and will discuss ”important regional issues... and a joint campaign against regional organised crime.”

“A memorandum of understanding will also be signed to promote bilateral judicial ties,” he added. But Elham did not confirm if their talks would cover the possible extradition of Saudi Al Qaeda members detained in the Islamic republic.

According to numerous diplomats, Iran is engaged in secretive and complex negotiations with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Kuwait over the extradition of several top aides to Osama bin Laden.

Iran’s foreign minister has said that Iran has no intention of publicly revealing their names.

Several Iranian students on hunger strike over arrests

A number of students from Tehran and provincial universities have gone on hunger strike to demand the release of classmates arrested during recent anti-regime protests, press reports said Thursday.

The reformist Nassim Saba paper said several students from Tehran's Allameh Tabatabae University had stopped eating since Monday.

They were demanding that detained demonstrators be freed and "rogue elements" of the clerical regime, namely hardline vigilante groups that helped violently quell the June 10-20 protests, be put on trial.

The conservative Afarinesh paper said eight students from Mashhad's Ferdowsi University were also making a similar protest to demand the release of detained students.

A third hunger strike has reportedly begun in the central city of Isfahan.

According to Iran's judiciary, a bastion of the religious right, some 4,000 people were detained during the demonstrations marked by unprecedented slogans targeting supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and fierce clashes between hardline Islamist groups and demonstrators.

Some 2,000 people are still in detention, a top justice official said last week, but the judiciary has said only 100 of those in detention are actually students.

The rest have been described as "hooligans".

SMCCDI: Financial Times Confirms Regime's Role in the Artificial Boom of Tehran's Stock Exchange

The famous "Financial Times" confirmed, in its today edition, the role of the Islamic republic in the artificial boost of Tehran's Stock Exchange.

SMCCDI reported, in mid June, the drop of the Tehran index following the investors understanding of the unpopular nature of the regime and its shacky position.

In part of its article, Financial Times quote: "This is also a peculiar market, insulated because most of the 340 companies listed are affiliated to the government and most buyers are institutions that are also tied to the government.."

It is to say that specific instructions have been given by the Economic Offices of the Regime's National Security Council to avoid a collapse of the ehran's Exchange which will have a deadly impact on the support of the regime made by countries such as those EU members.

Neverless, the exit of capitals and Iranians have increased sharply and many of those affiliated to the regime are selling their illegitimate propreties in order to leave the country

Public executions in Iranian province

IRAN. Two anti-government protesters were publicly executed in Iran one or two days ago. The two men were among those Iranian demonstrators arrested in the city of Ahwaz, Khoozestan province, in June of this year. The public executions took place in the city of Behbahan. Violent clashes ensued between locals and security forces as people tried to stop the executions.

According to the Student Movement Coordinating Committee for Democracy in Iran (SMCCDI), in recent days Iranian clerical leaders have frequently called for the execution of “mercenaries of US imperialism and Zionism”. Sources say the Iranian regime intends to execute several more protesters arrested during anti-clerical demonstrations in last month.

VOA TV to Launch New Persian Program July 6

The Voice of America will begin broadcasting a new half-hour, Persian-language television show to Iran via satellite this Sunday, July 6.

In a statement Thursday, the U.S. government's Broadcasting Board of Governors says the information program, called News and Views, will be shown nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.. local time in Iran.

Broadcast officials say the television show will feature original news reporting from Iran, world news roundups, analyses of issues and cultural reports. This Sunday's premiere will include the first of a series on the country's 1999 student demonstrations and the ensuing crackdown.

The program is meant to offer Iranian television viewers an alternative source of news, and is scheduled to run through September 30.

Kenneth Tomlinson, who chairs the broadcasting board, says that "if ever there was a time when the people of Iran need sound, factual reporting on their country, it is now."

Iran has experienced a series of youth and student protests against its cleric-run government in recent weeks. Tehran has accused the United States of encouraging the protests, a charge the Bush administration has rejected.

Television is a leading source of news in Iran, and satellite dishes are available in many homes across the country.

I read somewhere that "the whole story of the progress of human liberty shows that concessions yet made... have been born of earnest struggle... If there is no struggle, there is no progress."

I believe all human beings are privileged to have liberty of life. Prejudiced, medieval-like actions must and should be eliminated in this 21st Century. The pinnacle of cruelty must and should be obliterated in our new era.

Human beings are obliged to look forward to a brighter and more enlightening future and work hard to bring prosperity, not only to this generation, but also to the generations to come. That applies to all the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, not just to a particular rich industrial section of this global village.

There are many nations in this global village of ours that have been struggling, in many ways, for centuries to reach the prosperity that most have enjoyed in Western nations. This divisive gap between the very rich and the very poor has never been clearer, to the entire world, than it is today. With the advent of the Internet, we have more accurate information on this calamity, this reality that we all live with, on a daily basis.

When many immigrants arrive at the port of New York, the first thing they want to see is the Statue of Liberty, and it is something beautiful. It is something extraordinary in the eyes of people who have dreamed all their lives, of seeing this symbol of liberty. It represents what America must be and ought to be. It represents America, the land of the free, and the land of opportunity.

That hasn't changed in 116 years, but there were have been subtle changes in what she came to represent. Before she was a statue and before there were waves immigrants, she was Liberty. Just Liberty. Now it means much more than a statue. Now, it is America and we must not allow the recent tragedies in New York to tarnish this magnificent symbol of love, justice, and liberty for all mankind.

America was founded on aspirations of liberty and justice for all. She is now a proud country with very a rich constitution that protects, not only its own citizens, but whomever makes it to her shores. For that, we all must all be grateful and thankful and struggle to keep it that way.

What inspired me to write this article was the mere fact that all forms of life start with struggle. We all know that the city of Rome was not built in one day. Similarly, people's liberty and freedom were not given to them simply because some ruler felt sorry for the masses. They were secured with many bloody revolutions, an inch at the time. That's how most countries have achieved their liberty and freedom.

Iran is a land of beauty and love, but also a land of turmoil. At this critical crossroad in her history, this old nation, perhaps, the mother of all nations, needs you. This very rich culture which has given the world many great scientists, in all areas, unparalleled poets, such as Rumi, Ferdowsi and Hafez needs you.

Iran has the youngest and brightest and the most educated population of any country at this time in history. Iranians, like many other nationalities, have been struggling to achieve the liberty and justice and freedom that are being enjoyed, mostly, in the western countries.

The Islamic Republic says NO to a population of 70 million. The Islamic Republic says NO to liberty. The Islamic Republic says NO to justice and NO to freedom. Ultimately, if its leaders succumb to the will of the people, they will have to pack and leave. The Iranian people believe that "everyone has the right...to hold opinions without interference and to see, receive and impart information and ideas through any media, regardless of frontiers."

The Islamic Republic, perhaps, is the only nation in the world whose leaders work, twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year, against her citizens. It is as though the sole purpose of this regime is to torture, antagonize, fabricate, lie, harass, arrest, murder, and intimidate her innocent citizens in the name of some sort of Islam from of a different planet.

Yes, life itself is a struggle, but the vast majority of Iranians are struggling, at this very moment, for simple and basic human rights.

Ladies and gentlemen of the free world! We need your moral support now more than any other time in the history of our country. We need your support NOW. The rewards for supporting love, justice, liberty, and freedom for those who are trapped in an Islamic terrorist country are magnificent. You will receive your rewards from the Almighty Lord, either in this world or the next.

My fellow freedom loving people! July 9th, 2003 is almost upon us. Millions of people, inside and outside of Iran are gearing up for a tremendous movement on that day. Iranians are hoping to eradicate the Islamic barbarity from the land of Aryans. They are hoping you, the people of earth, watch them, pay attention to them, and help them morally in whatever capacity you are able.

Your other fellow human beings need you, and need you now. So, I beseech you to come out on July 9th, 2003, in front of the Iranian consulates or the embassies of the Islamic Republic, in your respective countries, in solidarity with the people of Iran.

I thought you might be interested in the most popular photograph in Iran regarding the Student Movement...

This young student is AHMAD BATEBI. He has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

His "crime" has been none other than having been identified in this photo. He was holding up the tshirt of one of the students beaten and I believe killed on July 9th, 1999.

I am also providing a link to a letter from him from prison where he as been since 1999.

Iran's Successful Missile Test Puts Israel Within Range

Iran has successfully tested a Shihab-3 missile, which has a range that can reach Israel. The launch last week was the most successful so far of the seven or eight tests of the missile over the last five years, and has increased worries in Washington - which spotted the test with its tracking mechanisms - and in Israel.

If the assessment proves to be true that the missile, which was launched from east to west, had an effective range beyond the 1,300-kilometer red line, meaning the range from western Iran to Israel, the Iranians could position the launching pads for the rocket deeper inside their country.
