Mr. DiCamillo said the ranking of the candidates, even with the margin of error, showed that Republicans voters were dividing their votes among the top four Republican candidates and that Democrats had more or less settled on Mr. Bustamante, the lone prominent Democrat on the replacement ballot.

How to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, page 1.

Three other Republicans followed the front-runners, with State Senator Tom McClintock picking up 9 percent, Bill Simon Jr. 8 percent and Peter V. Ueberroth 5 percent.

McClintock up 5% in 72 hours, and already ahead of Simon. It won't take long and they won't be able to continue deliberately ignoring him.

I'm not buying it. The polls have been volatile but this is nuts. Arnold's been consistently leading by two digit margins and now he's trailing Bustamonte?

The survey showed that 25 percent of likely voters favored Mr. Bustamante, while 22 percent said Mr. Schwarzenegger was their first choice. Three other Republicans followed the front-runners, with State Senator Tom McClintock picking up 9 percent, Bill Simon Jr. 8 percent and Peter V. Ueberroth 5 percent.
Or, put more precisely, if the "stupid party" ever gets it's act together:
Bustamante - 25%
Schwarzenegger = 22% + McClintock 9% Simon 8% + Ueberroth 5% = 44% = LANDSLIDE!
If the "stupid party" remains true to form:
Bustamante - 25% = winner
Schwarzenegger = 22%
McClintock = 9%
Simon = 8%
Ueberroth = 5%
I prefer NOT to be a good solid conservative LOSER, who FEELS great, but suffers from continued RAT poison.

This is excellent news. Arnold is in the same camp as his advisors Warren Buffet and Rob Lowe (hard as it is to imagine Rob Lowe as an advisor). I am astonished at how many people here think that makes him a great GOP candidate. Getting rid of this type of Republican is good news for everyone who remembers Nelson Rockefeller as the archetype of his party.

It still looks like:

1. Cruz
2. No Recall
3. The rest of the field.

Don't ya think maybe this poll is a little rigged? Don't you think the liberal media would love conservatives to think they really have a chance so the vote will split. I don't buy this for a second. Why on earth would McClintock be ahead so much. It's ridiculous.

This is gonna piss everyone off on this website, but, I think we would actually be better off if Bustamonte wins. First off Arnald aint no Republican, putting a Socialist like Buffet on his economic team proves that. I just have a feeling that Arnald doesnt have what it takes to do anything in California. When nothing improves the Democrats will blame the Republicans for the entire mess in Califronia, all because Arnald has an "R" in front of his name. I think this Bustamonte is probably worse than Davis. Some times you need to completely destroy something before you can build it back up again. With Bustamonte in power and a Democratic monopoly in the California state legislator there is nobody to blame but themselves. Perhaps if we are lucky the people will wake up in the next general election and elect some real conservatives in California, because what do they have to lose? the alternative clearly didnt work.

BTW, here is my estimated adjustment of the numbers, to remove Field's "special sauce":

Ahnold 23%
Bustamante 17%
McClintock 14%
Simon 12%
Ueberroth 6%

When the republican pot boils down to nothing all that's left is EGO. We lose elections because of the ego of Simon and McClintock, a Rat wins again. When will we ever learn. If these two men lose us this election Republicans should see that they are run out of politics. Even Rush as much as I respect him is talking stupid lately. IMHO

And from the article reporting on the same poll in the WP:

""I don't think anybody in California would have predicted that Cruz would be ahead of Arnold at this point," said Bruce Cain, director of the Institute of Government Studies at the University of California at Berkeley. The support for the three other Republicans, he said, "shows the fractured field of Republicans is really hurting Schwarzenegger. He could have a big lead."

Poll Places Bustamante In Lead to Succeed Davis

Since Arnold announced last week, what overtures has he given to California conservatives? Nada.

He's hired Buffet, a Democrat socialist as a campaign advisor and now the pervert Rob Lowe, a Clinton fundamentalist. Is it no wonder Republicans are being attracted to McClintock and Simon? When Arnold gives something to conservatives regarding the issues, please let me know.

Fill me in here, Californians. Is it really true that prop 13 rolled back and then froze valuations in place, so that a millionaire who has lived in one mansion since that time pays less than a family starting out with a new starter home?

If this poll is to believed, a flaming liberal (Cruz) slightly outpolls a flaming liberal (Arnold), but both of them together don't make a majority. I wonder what the strategists make of this??

Last poll: Arnold 51%.

This poll: Arnold 22%.

I think that's an indication we should pay too much attention to polls in this race . . .

I'm not voting for that fat, greasy, sweaty, pig, race pimp, non-Hispanic, little girl, looser in high school, Bustamante. As a Hispanic I'm insulted that this fat slob of a pig looser, is considered the representation of the Hispanics of the state by the liberal-press, nazi-propaganda machine. No true Hispanic would let a fat pig liberal take any leadership position because A.)A liberal can not be a Catholic, liberalism is counter to Christianity B.)He only wants power and assumes the masses of his populous will vote for him b/c he is a Mexican, he pictures himself as a ranchero or the high Mexican gentry of California.

But alas, Bustamante is a fat modern representation of Zorros Garcia, sloppy and fat eating off the public trough, in a high legal position so he can protect his own interest in California. But because of his uncertainty and clear reading as the fat mamma's boy who is no leader but a phony.
