Did you know that there is ANOTHER "Bang List"?
Chatty bang_list gun-related posts properly made to the "General Interest" area (as opposed to News/Activism area) are NOT visible when you view the regular bang_list.
If you want to see posts regarding "What gun to buy?", vanities on gun politics, and silly gun-related stories, bookmark this spot:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/finduser?user=%2Abang_list If you want to post to this chat list, click "General Interest" (aka "chat") in the upper right under "my forums", then post, then reply to "*bang_list".

I was working on my gun control this weekend. ;^)
Had a poster on the "Hannity Interviews Arnold" thread wondering if pro-Brady means a Californian is in favor of a shorter waiting period. ;^)

Let's see, so this report is based completely on rumor, or second-hand report at best?
BTW, Reagan signed the Brady Bill, so I guess that makes him a RINO.

So, is Harold Dean better than Schwarzenegger on these issues?

The so called "gun-show loophole" doesn't exist in CA. All transfers between private citizens (other than between husband and wife) must be done through a gun dealer with paperwork going to the state. The Brady bill is duplicated in state law too. Those horses have already left the barn, making Arnolds position academic.

Does anyone know where Cruz Bustamante stands on gun control?

Well, Californians can always vote for the lady who's running while wearing a pink bird costume...

Arnold's quote on gunshows was actually (having heard a replay):
"I vould like to close da loophole of da gun shows."
I don't know if his support for the Assault Weapons Ban refers to the national one that will sunset next year if not reauthorized, or the California one that is being appealed to the US Supreme Court.
Tha California Ban he is presumably referring to constitutes uncompensated confiscation, and criminalizing of those who continue to keep and bear what they lawfully purchased and owned.

I've stocked up on large caliber firearms and semi autos. This is only going to get worse in California.Keep plenty of ammo around too, because the tax on bullets will eventually make it through. Bang bang bang! Screw you Arnold!

I remember an epidsode of the Untouchbles where a gangster tried to buy a .45 auto, but was refused by the store owner because he didn't have a permit. The store owner wouldn't even tell him how many rounds it held since he didn't have a permit. Then the store owner said "I've got something new you might be interested in, and you don't need a permit for it". The storeowner pulls out a Thompson sub-machine gun and sells it to the gangster. How soon before it will be easier to get a federal firearms license to own an automatic weapon, than to buy a handgun.
