Splain me something. They have to pay for bandwidth. And I bet their advertising doesn't cover their expenses. So aren't we SAVING them money by "hosting" the content here on FR?

The shame here is that the Onion has reliably been a more accurate source of news than either the Washington Post or the L.A. Times.

Please so not post anything from The Onion.

I never cared much for Onion satires anyway.
Too much potty "humor", irreverent pope bashing, etc. etc.
Very little that's truly creatively funny.
I hope you give them the VDARE treatment instead of allowing excerpts like the LAT/WP.

Well, the first time I ever heard of the site was from clicking the link to the story from a posting on FR.

I've only gone there after FR has posted a story. Usually I forget about them.

Did you get their permission to post their complaint about us not getting their permission to post their stuff? You may have just upset them again and doomed us all! </sarcasm

Jim,

My parody news articles, posted here, may not be reproduced in any way on The Onion. Furthermore, they are instructed to remove any material that infringes on the copyrights I possess on these materials. I know The Onion is eager to cooperate, but they should know that I will not hesitate to enforce my rights.

Is it permissable to post an excerpt from The Onion, with a link, such as we would do for the LATimes or WashPO?

I'm tempted to post a punchline, but this is too serious.

Having their stuff here did nothing for them except increase their site traffic. I had never heard of them before I saw a piece posted here years ago, and I've been back to their place hundreds of times since. Oh well, they don't have to permit use of their stuff, and I don't have to visit their site.

Too bad for the Onion. They got some new readers from FR, but no more.

Of course, no posts from them anymore. Message received and understood.

Jim,

Is there a link to a list of those entities we aren't supposed to post in full?

Eye eye sir. Besides, onions are for cooking and eating, not reading.

So much for their free publicity. They lose.

A lot of people refer or link  me to "the Onion" articles. Personally, I think that the humor there is not very good. I think that it is largely contrived, and it is lacking the essence of "spontaneity." Admittedly, I rarely go there, and it has been a while since I checked the site out.

I will say, that I have never laughed more, than I have at some of the FR.com threads. IMHO, you should have the moderators let the funny threads go. Some of the very funniest threads that I ever have imagined possible, have been deleted.
