Tucker Carlson angry at Foxnews for releasing his phone number.

Phone Wars

CNN's Tucker Carlson thought he was having a bit of fun when, during a "Crossfire" segment in which he defended telemarketers, he was asked for his home number but recited the number of the Fox News Washington bureau instead. Fox retaliated by posting Carlson's unlisted Virginia number on its Web site.

After his wife was deluged with obscene calls, Carlson says, he went to Fox's Capitol Hill bureau Friday to complain, and was told his number would be taken down if he apologized on the air. Fox spokeswoman Irena Briganti says Carlson was "completely irresponsible" and that the bureau was "inundated" with "vicious phone calls. . . . CNN threw the first punch here. Correcting his mistake was good journalism."

Carlson, who apologized on "Crossfire" but also criticized Fox's form of retaliation, now says: "They're a mean, sick group of people. Don't harass my wife and kids. Even the Mafia doesn't do that."

Howard Kurtz hosts CNN's weekly media program.

I don't think he's one of the good guys. He attacks Bush on his death Penalty stand and still supports McCain. If he's against free speech through CFR, exactly what makes him a good guy?

Tucker Carlson attempted to get the Fox News Washington bureau SHUT DOWN and prevent them from doing business. That is against the law, and he's lucky he didn't have criminal charges filed against him. What Fox did in response is nothing compared to what they could have done.

By the way, Tucker was on Tim Russert's CNBC show this weekend with AL FRANKEN. I have no idea why they were appearing together, as I refused to watch, but from the few moments I did see, they didn't exactly appear to be acting adversarial towards each other.

I think it was nice of Fox to give out little tuck's phone number to insure he got all his phone calls.

Carlson's been at CNN so long he's begun to parrot the propaganda.

Hey, Tucker. Resign. Take a long vacation. Then start over somewhere else.

Tucker's action are similar to the press who know the truth of a story and still report half truths. They avoid telling the story of a young boy ravaged by to men but scream about homophobes.

Tucker is on the "inside" and thought he could do something funny, tell a half truth, cause the press NEVER PAYS a penalty for thir actions. He just got a new lesson and so did the Press.

Call the Waahhhhhhhh-mbulance!

Don't harass my wife and kids. Even the Mafia doesn't do that.

Neither did FoxNews. Private citizens made the calls. Does poor Tuckey think FoxNews assigned some interns to phonebank him into oblivion? LOL

Mr. Carlson, on the air, specifically asked people to call him at home. He somehow inadvertently gave out the wrong number (that of Fox) and they simply corrected the record so he could get the calls he solicited.

But the callers have a right to free speech. And they're rights are even greater than the telemarketers, because this isn't merely "commercial" speech, it's political free speech. What a hypocrite. Why doesn't he just list with each of these callers the fact his doesn't want them to call again? What could be simpler?

" Getting called at home is irritating, but it doesn't impede the proper functioning of a corporation."

Yeah, multiple mass-dialing of homes only impedes the proper functioning of mere families.
