Dr. Ergun Caner at TRBC this Sunday, July 30, 11:00 a.m.
This Sunday, July 30, Dr. Ergun Caner, a former Muslim who is today the president of Liberty Theological Seminary, will be speaking in the beautiful new Thomas Road Baptist Church Worship Center.
Dr. Caner, who has been described as the Intellectual Pit Bull of the evangelical world, will be addressing the present turbulence in the Middle East and examining the historic connotations of the Covenant between God and Abraham, a key issue in todays ongoing turmoil in the Holy Land.
Dr. Caner is a bold spokesman for Jesus Christ. He has spoken on more than 50 university and college campuses, debating Hindi, Buddhist, Muslim and Bahai scholars. He has been interviewed on virtually every national media outlet, and has been castigated by the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. He has addressed the Southern Baptist Convention Pastors Conference twice, and has given keynote addresses at seven major denominational meetings.
In the war on terror, he understands both sides, because he has been on both sides since he was raised the son of an Islamic leader. In 1982, he converted to the Christian faith after emigrating to the U.S. As a consequence of this conversion, he was disowned by his family.
Along with his brother, Dr. Emir Caner, professor of History and Anabaptist Studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Caner is the author of 11 books, including the new best seller, Christian Jihad.
This will be a crucial sermon that every believer needs to hear, said Dr. Jerry Falwell, founder and pastor of the historic Thomas Road Baptist Church. I have asked Ergun to address the Middle East crisis this Sunday because I know he has an unparalleled perspective on the crisis. I am very excited to hear this pertinent and important sermon.
Thomas Road Baptist Church is located on Liberty Mountain in Lynchburg, Va. For information or directions to the church, please visit the churchs website (www.trbc.org) or call (434-239-9281).
If Caner ever comes up my way, I would love to hear him speak.
