Considering the author, this is a surprisingly direct and firm statement!

This opens the door wide open for the harvesting of body parts of cloned humans. How many people must die so that someone can live? In the end all life is cheapened by this policy. Also, if a clone is full able to live an independent life is he/she free to live it? Because of the financial investment by a company or government won't that governing body own the clone? Is not the clone the property (SLAVE) of the institute?

This is encouraging to hear. Cardinal Justin Rigali also has spoken out strongly for the USCCB. This needs to continue. Here's a great statement by Gary Bauer on this topic. An excerpt:

"It's tragic that Barack Obama is willing to take tax money from struggling Americans and give it to scientists working on repeatedly failed embryonic stem cell projects...especially as adult stem cell research is yielding real, life-saving results. Most people do not understand that there is no restriction against fetal stem cell research, just a restriction against spending tax dollars to destroy human embryos for a body of work that has resulted in cancers and abnormal cells time and time again. Adult stem cell research, on the other hand, has provided real hope to many patients. In 2008, the National Institutes of Health spent nearly one billion dollars on stem cell research, most of it going to adult stem cell research because of the real hope it offered.

One more example of the real truth in "0bama lied; people died."

Dear markomalley,

I'm not as impressed by this statement as you are.

If the archbishop wants to show us that he's more than a part-time Catholic and less than a full-time Democrat, he could start out by publicly censuring all the pro-ESCR “Catholic” politicians who go to Mass in his archdiocese, followed up by instructions to forbid them the Most Blessed Sacrament if they fail to repent of their crimes.

Until then, he's just another fellow filled with hot air.

I’m not. The Archbishop was always good with these articles. What it hasn’t affected in the past is his behavior toward the pro-aborts/leftists. They’ll still come to church, receive communion, engage in social events etc. The papers love pictures of the Bishop glad-handing them.

Question??? What medical cure/treatment/breakthrough was ever achieved by government funding? Seriously...I wish to know.
