1) I am Catholic. I love Orthodox and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies— specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

Thank you for the thread.

>>I’m taking Lent off too with only a quick peek at the ping lists late Sunday night to see prayer requests.<<

I’m taking Lent off too.
I’ve been doing it for about five years. It’s really hard, because I find myself looking for the “Post reply” button on Drudge!

As for the Prayer Pings, I don’t respond to them because I feel I draw attention to myself (that’s just me) so, I add “Let everyone who needs prayers on FR” into my regular ones.
The Lord knows who I mean.

All Blessings on FReepers for Lent! The enemy is all around us and we need them.

I will also be gone from FR for the days of Lent.

I believe that this year’s Lent will be a very important one, for all of us.

Hey, I'm not alone! I've responded here lately a couple of times about prayer requests but generally I don't like to do so.

I think there are lots of us that do the same.

Clearly there are false Christians and this will increase the closer we get to the return of Christ.

That has nothing to do with what I addressed.. IF those ignorant of Christ will be saved preaching the gospel to them only damns them .,... why would Jesus send out his men to damn others?

Matthew 6:6 "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who [is] in the secret [place;] and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

What’s an “Orthodox Christian”?

"There was no religion forum in the beginning.. but there were always religious/doctrinal debates on the site. The Religion forum grew out of that fact...some objected to the religion on the site so JR set aside a specific forum so those that did not want to be "bothered" with them did not have to see them.

Religion was one of the factors leading to the foundation of America.. so not wonder it remains a conservative interest"

Ahhhhhhh. The good old days. I remember when you could have great exchanges of deeply held convictions ... and not have to worry about who was offended. Then it got so PC that it wasn't even worth responding anymore. When I was a child, my mother taught me well: "Sticks and Stones may break my bones BUT WORDS CAN NEVER HURT ME."

That being said, I sure do miss those days :)

The one thing I am opposed to is those who promote their denomination over Christ, who demean me because follow Christ, but am not a member of their denomination.

I, as a mere Christ-follower, find unity with Roman Catholics who boast in Christ, and not in Rome.

That said, I oppose those who require people to join their denomination in order to experience, as they say, the fullness of Christ.

You beat me by six days. Yes, those were the good old days. I think it was during the court proceedings down in Florida, after I had lurked before the elction through the whole fiasco of re-counting ballots that I finally said ‘what the heck, may as well register, rather than lurk.’

LOL!

What do you have against the Italians?
I like them. They make great food and their weddings are superb!

I think your tagline is sad.

Trying to start a fight? On a thread about Christian unity?

Sad, indeed.

Why do you say Roman Catholics when there qre 22 rites of the Catholic Church.

Latin is one of them.

What does that even mean? Boast in Rome? Who goes to a city and boasts?

Because of my experience here on FR: Roman Catholic FReepers tend to be the most vitriolic against those who follow Christ outside of their “rite” or denomination.

See how I’ve already been the target of some bitterness on this thread, simply because I speak higher of Jesus than of any particular denomination?

Unity may be found in Jesus. Not in Rome or any other religious center. If those on this thread want unity, then let’s gather around Jesus our Savior, and not allow denominational preferences to divide us.
