Plenty of room for Jews on free republic.

I forgot to put them in because I very rarely see them arguing with others of Free Republic.

Thank you.

I should have made it ecumenical, but I thought it would be unnecessary.

Guess I was wrong.

Actually, I’m surprised that when the jailer asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”, Paul didn’t reply, “Blasphemer! You can do nothing to be saved! How long will you oppose the Sovereign God? You must wait and find out if God has irresistibly saved you...”

Are you trying to say I hide my religion?

You must not read my posts to you.

I already answered YOU in 225 and stated my religion in the first post.

This will be at least the third, and I think fourth, time that I will say that I am Catholic on this thread.

If it gets in the way of the exchange of ideas and into the area of judging then yes.

While one may argue over faith being a substance, or argue that as every good gift is from God, faith is one of common grace, but as regards salvation, faith is a gift of the grace “that bringeth salvation,” (Titus 2:11), as “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith,” (Rm. 12:3) “to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, “ (2 Peter 1:1) “To another faith by the same Spirit.” (1 Cor. 12:9) While the latter refers to a special charism beyond saving faith, the point is that faith is given by God. And even to be able to place confidence in the mercy of God in Christ, for Him to save the damned and destitute sinner by His blood, is by grace, versus something morally earned.

Man is “dead in trespasses and sins,” and repentance is granted, enabling them to believe, (Acts 11:18) for God draws men (Jn. 6:44; 12:32) and opens their heart, (Acts 16:14) enabling them to believe and confess Christ, for no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. (1Cor. 12:3b) “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; “ (Philippians 1:29)

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. “ (John 6:44)

“When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” (Acts 11:18)

“And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. “ (Acts 16:14)

“{2} And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. “ (2 Thessalonians 3:2)

However, i cannot yet give assent to the teaching that it is regeneration that opens the heart and enables faith, as while i see this being a work of saving grace by the Holy Spirit, i see the washing and actual indwelling of the Holy Spirit resulting from the faith which is counted for righteousness, as per Acts 2:38; Eph. 1:13. Acts 15:8,9 would favor the Calvinist position if it were chronological, but i think that may be arguable, and maybe God, which knows hearts, purified it first and the gave the Holy Spirit. (cf. 1Cor. 6:11)

Yet all of the above is one conversion event, though conversions such as Daniel Brainard testify of the degree of preparation that can take place, and how spiritual one might (apparently) before conversion. http://www.jesus.org.uk/vault/library/brainerd_diary.pdf (p. 14) Glory to God.

I don't think I was trying to say that.

I was saying that you make OTHER people try to find what is so very compeling for you to allude to.

And I really don't care.

You can be a Baptist, atheist, Wiccan or Jew; but if you insist on vaguely refering to something, and subsequently fail to actually SHOW what worries you so, I begin to wonder if you REALLY find anything objectionable at all.

So; if I exchange an idea with you, and you judge it to be shear bullcrap; you'll keep it to yourself?

I would not call you names and denigrate your religion unless you were lying about it. Might have a laugh or two at your expense. But understand my point. There is only ONE being that gets to decide who has the “right” religion and it ain’t you or me. Since EVERY organized religion has humans telling it’s members what they should think they are all suspect in my mind.

Yep. Nice try, but yet another FR Religious food fight. It has been revealing however. Open threads are a lost cause for courteous discussion.

The same can be said of good doughnuts. When the craving strikes, there’s never a good bakery to be found. Come to think of it, same can be said of Lebanese food too.

unless you were lying about it.

Aye...

There's the rub!

When LIES are DOCUMENTED and Illustrated on FR, the members of whichever religious group has PUBLISHED them get bent ALL out of shape and say that the words do NOT mean exactly what they say.

I always find it funny when someone dances naked on the coffee table with a lampshade on their heads, and then gets upset when people look at them or comment on it.
