Christian Unity on Free Republic [Vanity]
WPaCon | March 5, 2011 | WPaCon

Lately, there seems to be a lot of conflict on the religion forum. Much of this has been between Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox. To show that we are all united as Christians and to reduce animosity, I hope we can all agree to one of 4 following statements:

1) I am Catholic. I love Orthodox and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

2) I am Protestant. I love Orthodox and Catholic Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Catholics to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

3) I am an Orthodox Christian. I love Catholic and Protestant Christians. I consider Catholics and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

4) I am a non-believer. I love Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians, Catholics, and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

I feel confident that most freepers agree to at least one of these statements, even if they do not say so.

If you agree with any of these statements, please feel free to say so.

Thanks!

They do not believe in the Trinity, they believe that you can lose your salvation which means they believe you can work to your salvation.

I don't think it MEANS that at all.

If someone gives me a gift - that I just LOVE! - but later decide that I don't want it; I can throw it away.

But WOE to the person who tries to TAKE it from me if I still want it!

...oneness pentecostals believe ... that Jesus was a man who became God...

Then they DO have it wrong; as the Book PLAINLY shows it to be the other way around!

The anti-Catholics have not converted a single person, you can be sure of that, and neither have the Mormons.

But many LDS members are convinced they are 'converted'!

If you believe that the elect can lose salvation by works, that means that you believe that one’s works also are a factor in one’s salvation.

I do not understand what you mean here.

“assessing” so easily slips into judgment. And judgment belongs to God alone.

He knows how to care of His own.

If you can lose your salvation, that means that some action, some work of yours causes you to lose that salvation. That means that correspondingly some action, some work of yours is also a factor in your salvation. That is wrong, it is all God, who chose those to be saved from before time and direct their actions.

Yes, this salvation by works is false. No wonder the Mormons, RCC, pentecostals, adventists, arminian methodists and baptists and other false religions teach this.

I've never heard of any Baptist church that claims works are required for salvation...Shirley, you are mistaken...

I believe the whole counsel of God in Scripture.

Salvation is by Grace/Faith in Christ’s Blood alone.

I’m not interested in splitting Calvinist/Arminian sp? hairs.

No more than the souls in your congregation are in danger.

No, read what Ellen G. White wrote in Patriarchs and Prophets, page 761, "...He (Jesus) was revealed to them as the Angel of Jehovah, the Captain of the Lord's Host, Michael the Archangel".

You are quoting from a liars book, the adventists like all cults will tell you whatever to get you hooked and then they will tell you the truth.

From 1846 to 1888, the majority of Adventists rejected openly the concept of the Trinity and now they pretend to accept it with their own conditions so that people believe they are not a cult. But the truth comes out in their deepest statements. See the above of what their founder Ellen G White said.

Actually, I’ve been close to a number of Adventists.

None of them believed Ellen White’s writings were EQUAL to Scripture.

I talk of those baptists who hold to Arminianism. I didn’t think there were any either until they started to show on Freerepublic articles

Yes, it does mean. You did some work by acceptance of this and you do some work by throwing it away. Next you will say that you can re-accept the gift that you throw away. All of this is false teaching.
