Yehova is the name of God.

It is the name he ascribes to himself over 1600 times in the Hebrew OT scriptures. Whever you see the word “LORD” in English, it replaces the name Yehova in the original scriptures.

He says that we must call out to him by name if we seek his blessings.

Are you familiar with the Apostles Creed?

With the Nicene Creed?

They answer the question asked with the words, “I believe.”

Let's freak everybody out and have a Roman Catholic and a Reformed Presbyterian both say the Apostles Creed.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;

He descended into hell.

The third day He arose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.

Amen.

But if she can't prove he forced her, she dies too.

No, it does not say that in this case. Only in the case of a betrothed women was it a capital crime.

That means it's not rape that's being punished, it's sex. She might escape the penalty if she can prove he forced her, but it won't change the nature of his crime or his punishment.

You are assuming that there was no extension of jurisprudence based upon these laws, which mistake is typical for those seeking to denigrate them, but it is erroneous, as would be the idea that our own jurisprudence is not an extension of the Constitution, etc. And many in fact Biblical laws influence many .

The problem of determining whether one is guilty of rape of consensual relations is one that can be difficult today. In the Bible the question was could she and then did she call for help. Today we have 911 and DNA, while in Scripture 2 or 3 eye witnesses were required for capital crimes, with false witnesses receiving the penalty with their laying innocent upon the innocent. That aspect would help today.

Actually youre wrong.I dont believe in works at all.Im a sinful man with a sinful nature and all my works are as filthy blood soaked rags.Nothing I can ever do will make a speck of differance. Its my Faith that Jesus did it all is my only hope.
Doesnt change the fact that I argue with God,Question what I see as inconsistancies in His word, and point out foolishness on the part of man and church.God accepts and desires people to question and argue with Him.If you dont believe that I can point to many referances in the Bible to prove it.
I agree with lady perfect in many ways here today, especially where she points out if you dont feel Gods love in youre life too many people blame the person. When they do that they are no better than Jobs advisors.

Alright so you are a puzzle. You’re like a cat that says it’s white but you are half black. I won’t bother arguing. I wish you well if this is the actual Jesus — explanations are secondary, relationships with God primary. Otherwise I have to warn you. Have a good night.

Just a few reminders:

John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

Matthew 7

“1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”

Pieter,I think you are of the crowd that believes that women should be silen in church, and never be preachers?
I believe God and Jesus many times broke that rule.
Setting up female judges to rule over Isreal.Setting up female Prophetesses to preach and declare the coming of salvation.Sending the woman married seven times to preach to her town, and sending Mary Magdelene to preach the Gospel “He Is Risen!” to the disciples themselves.
If God and Jesus can use women to preach His word, who are we to set rules saying they cant?Or is it just youre tradition speaking?

You have given us YOUR interpretation of scripture and that raises the important question: Why should we believe that you have divined the truth? I mean no insult.

The Lord Jesus and the Bible appeals to reason, thus do i.

As we see Jesus often honoring rich Abraham as an example of a real believer, (Jn. 8:39,56, etc.) while reproving riches in the context of false security, and the rest of Scripture shows that forsaking all does not necessarily mean literally, while condemning indolence and not working if able, then it is reasonable to assume that your charges are based upon ignorance and selective but not objective "proof texting ," or you believe Scripture actually contradicts itself.

We collectively kicked God out of our lives, our communities, our government and our country.

The last 12 years of my life causes me to question a higher power.

Did the ones before these 12 cause you to question lower powers?

God ordained the death penalty for rape?

Yes, He did. You must have missed that part.

n other words, if wastedyears isn't feeling peace and joy right now, he has failed to seek God with an open enough heart. That's all you Christians on here are really saying to him. God is peace, but you have to do it right.

Indeed, there is right way of doing things, that is part of life, but unlike the "lucky chance" that science requires for creation without a Creator, the "right way" of salvation is quite simple, as it is more of a matter of the heart than requiring much of the head.

"18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." (Psalms 34:18)

"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. " (Matthew 18:3)

But when you are raised under a form of religion, such as largely perfunctory professions or misguided zeal for a church, and see no transformative reality, then it can act like an inoculation that breeds cynicism against the possibility that the claims of Christ (which the dead church makes of none effect) are real.

Meanwhile, there are abundant testimonies present (you can watch a few here tonight) and past that testify to the transformative reality of the Lord Jesus, including more hymns about this kind of personal relationship than any faith, and that are an effect that corresponds to the words of the object of their faith.

I have not read much past 100, but God willing maybe tomorrow, suffice to say that unlearned “wresting” (2Pt. 3:18) of Scripture is often at work. Have a god night.

Perfect Lady,If a woman were caught willinly having sex with someone who wasnt her husband she was killed. That was Gods rule. However an interesting contradiction is that it wasnt Jesus rule.Jesus forhave her and set her free,,but Jesus was God,,,So there lies the contradiction.

But what this testing has done for me spiritually and mentally is without price. Even if I wind up back in that blasted chair, I will praise God for what He has given me.

Preach it brother!

God forgave David for that little plot to off Uriah. He could have easily sent a priest with a sword. As it turned out David did suffer, but didn’t die for it.

Carrying this over to what governments in gentile society ought to do is an area that the bible does not touch on very much. My read for what it is worth is that capital punishment is permissible and expected to be normative for certain crimes, but not an absolute in-every-case requirement. Others differ and this gets into gnatty areas that are beyond my scope. The country would do well to have a mass remembering of God and that would weigh almost infinitely more than details of civil discipline.

The point is, rape was never expressly forbidden because to a Middle Eastern male, it's a moot point what the woman wants. She is either the property of her father or her husband. A man who rapes a betrothed woman has violated another man's property, that's what he's being punished for. If she fought, they graciously forgive her, but the crime is not against her, it's against her betrothed. That's why it's a different case than if she is unmarried.

The Jesus loophole is an invention that reflects the changing times.

If it were simple, no Bible study would be required.
