Church Members Mistreat Homeless Man in Church Unaware It Is Their Pastor in Disguise

He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service, only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him.
He asked people for change to buy food – no one in the church gave him change.
He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back.
What brought tears to my eyes when reading this was when after he was introduced he quoted scripture about homeless, hungry, etc.
I think the welfare state is God punishing His People for being selfish.
When I saw that this church is in Austin-—a hot spot of liberals, I could believe it more easily.
Liberals do a lot of talking...........
Seems maybe an apology might be in order. I posted this without fully vetting the story. Seems it’s been around a while in different versions. It just hit me as a tragic incident and I ran with it without thinking. Again, shoulda ........
Too many have become suspicious and skeptical of anyone needing help. The government programs have removed our weekly (or even daily) contact with those who are in need. Too often we rely on the government programs to handle ‘those people’. More’s the shame
Oh I think the welfare state is the CAUSE of people becoming greedy and falling away from God

I stand by my post. We were a nation of Christians and we did not live up to our expectations.

Saw a car with a “honk if you Love Jesus” bumper sticker, so went by ‘tooted’ threw up a hand with a wave and the driver returned the gesture...

I have seen it posted on Facebook and other places, people seem to want to believe that Christians are hypocrites and so jump all over this story and want to share it.
But it didn’t happen.
The US is one of the most generous places on earth. As individuals and institutions we give more (direct and indirect) than any other nation on earth. The welfare state started during the FDR years and has drug down citizens ever since. People quit giving because they saw the government doing. That is the causality
