Britain's Conservative Candidate Quits After Anti-Islam, Anti-Gay Tweets

A council election candidate has resigned from Britain's ruling Conservative Party with immediate effect, apologizing for posting anti-Islamic and anti-gay comments on Twitter.

"I have let myself and my party down," David Bishop, a candidate in Brentwood South in Essex, said in a statement Sunday. "In order to avoid any further embarrassment, I have taken the decision to resign from the Conservative party with immediate effect. I will not be asking anyone to vote for me on 22 May.

Last month, Bishop, who is also a local DJ, tweeted, "#Islam 'the religion of peace' & rape," referring to the arrest of four Muslim men for the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Chesham, Buckinghamshire.

Another tweet by him read: "It's good to be anti-Islam." His other tweets included: "A lesbian kiss on @bbceastenders before the watershed … okay BBC diversity soldiers we get it, now stop trying so hard #pathetic."

The UK is finished. If a politician is not allowed to be critical of the death cult then nothing will ever improve

He shouldn’t quit over that. I would consider his tweets as 2 more reasons to vote for him.

Embarrassment? Those comments are very tame.

"I will not be asking anyone to vote for me on 22 May."

What's wrong with this idiot?

It's pathetic to hear such a stupid apology. Think about the countless crimes politicians have committed and never apologized for: selling guns to terrorists, murdering political opponents, smoking crack on video, graft, corruption, bribery, cronyism...

The leftists will always chose evil. Conservatives should never apologize for criticizing it!

The real conservative party in the UK for the May 22nd elections is the United Kingdom Independence Party.

UKIP has had a few incidents like this involving their local election candidates and they are all designed to discredit the party whose candidates are caught making the “offensive” posts, tweets etc.

Its hard to know if the people mean what they are posting or they were infiltrated into the respective parties to discredit them.

Its hard to see the Conservative Party of David Cameron in a positive light anyway.

That’s why the the latest polling data for these elections shows UKIP at 29 percent, Labour at 27 percent and the Cameron “Conservatives” at 23 percent.

The third party-TEA PARTY is rising in the UK led by Nigel Farage and UKIP.

Look Nigel Farage up on You Tube and watch.....

He should have stayed in to see what kind of support he got...I suspect he was coerced into dropping out...

It is no different in the U.S., any one who tells it like it is has not been elected since Ronald Reagan and he would not be elected today.
