That Pope is a friggin degenerate hippy.

I can’t believe I could ever think that about a modern Pope, but I do.

They give Nobel Prizes to bums, these days —for doing almost NOTHING, and they make hippies into POPES.

Wow.

Is the Pope a Christian or is he a Gnostic? John B. Wells lets Fr. Paul Leonard Kramer talk about the current state of the Catholic Church and Pope Francis for three hours.

Burke’s words belied a growing sense of alarm among strict conservatives, exposing what is fast emerging as a culture war over Francis’s papacy and the powerful hierarchy that governs the Roman Catholic Church.

About bloody time!

Laudato Si was written by a Marxist.

If you look at the history of the Catholic Church it pretty much fits the Church at Thyatira. However, there is always a faithful remnant who overcome, and this is what Jesus writes to them:

Revelation 2:24 “Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. 25 “But hold fast what you have till I come. 26 “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations— 27 ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’— as I also have received from My Father; 28 “and I will give him the morning star. 29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’

I hope the real Catholics run off the leftwing, liberal political hack. He’s been there too long already. If he wants to be involved in politics, he should run for something and try to get elected. If he wants to deal with the environment, he should go take a few college science courses. Sitting around on your butt, sipping tea and reading propaganda written by environmentalist wackos does not make one a scientist.

something not quite right about an almost unheard of abdication to make way for this joke of a pope.

A lot of Italians are sick of the immigrant invasion, which Pope Francis supports.

If these Italians came to power, it’d be the easiest thing in the world to take Vatican City, depose Francis and put Benedict (or another) on the throne of St. Peter.

I know it’s extreme, but things are getting extreme.

Conservatives counter that in the current climate of rising liberal thought, they have been thrust unfairly into a position in which “defending the real teachings of the church makes you look like an enemy of the pope,” a conservative and senior Vatican official said on the condition of anonymity in order to speak freely.

“We have a serious issue right now, a very alarming situation where Catholic priests and bishops are saying and doing things that are against what the church teaches, talking about same-sex unions, about Communion for those who are living in adultery,” the official said. “And yet the pope does nothing to silence them. So the inference is that this is what the pope wants.”

The above observations are spot on.

“The pope does not have the power to change teaching [or] doctrine.”

But...I've been repeatedly assured that the Pope is inerrant on doctrine. If he's divinely infallible in that regard, then it's not that he doesn't have the power (as in he's not _allowed_ to), it's that he's metaphysically _incapable_ of doing so.

If the Pope is inerrant/infallible on doctrine, then what's the problem?

I'm not sure I'd trust the WASHINGTON COMPOST to give an accurate portrayal of what's going on in the Catholic church.

Incidentally, this business of priests having the authority to forgive abortion, instead of referring it to the Pope, has been delegated to individual parish priests in America for the past several years. As usual, the news media have confused things instead of clearing them up. Our parish bulletin this past Sunday emphasized that anyone who had received absolution for an abortion from a parish priest did not need any further absolution (subject, of course, to repentance and a determination to reform).
