Benedict XVI ‘Will Destroy a Diary He Kept During His Papacy’

The Pope Emeritus reportedly admitted to the diary in a book-length interview to be published in September

Benedict XVI kept a diary throughout his papacy but plans to destroy it, according to an Italian newspaper.

The retired pope apparently admitted to the diary in a new book-length interview to be published in September.

The historic book, called The Last Conversations, follows the format of previous book-length interviews Light of the World and Salt of the Earth and shares the same German author, Peter Seewald.

The Corriere della Sera newspaper, which has acquired the rights to publish excerpts of the book in Italy, has published a preview summarising its contents.

According to the article, the Pope Emeritus said he planned to destroy his diary even though he realised it would be a “golden opportunity” for historians.

Benedict XVI, the article reported, said he managed to “break up” a gay lobby at the Vatican consisting of four or five people seeking to influence decisions.

He also admitted to “lack of resoluteness in governing”, according to the article.

So after admitting he had a diary....did he get threats and now has to destroy it?

Would it be admissible in court in all the sex pedophile scandals?

So did Judas before he hanged himself.

Benedict was one of the good go. He appointed a lot of conservative bishops and cardinals and worked hard to clean up the seminaries

We always suspected it was the Gay Mafia who forced him out.
It seems to have some truth to the matter.

As a historian, I would ask him to NOT destroy his diary but to preserve it. I would advise him to put a ‘lock’ on the release of the contents for at least 50 years. That caveat is often done for many public official’s personal papers and is considered an acceptable practice.

If you and Pope Benedict XVI think the gay lobby consisted of only four or five people, I’ve got some beach front property in Arizona for sale, cheap.

Even when Francis became Pope, he stated, “there are holy people in the Curia, truly, there are holy people. But there is also a current (stream) of corruption, there is one, it is true... there are words about a ‘gay lobby,’ and it is true, it is there... we have to see what we can do (about it).”

And what has Francis done? He’s done nothing but add more gay-friendly prelates to his royal court, e.g., Ricca, Cupich, Gang o’ Nine, etc.

Judas never hade the role of governing at all, whether resolutely or not.

Your point seems ...pointless.

He had governance over his soul and actions. To destroy a diary is for what purpose? In the end all plots, actions, cover-ups and subversive actions will be revealed to all. To destroy a diary indicates a lack of belief in the afterlife and judgment.

A diary can contain first impressions without adjustment as well as speculation without followup. He knows the sense of how he made the regular notations and knows whether it is trustworthy, truly accurate or below a standard of accounting events that he would hold to normally.
