I suspect that at least some of the “other Anglicans” think the idea that God exists is absurd. Let alone that He is the fount of all blessings.

Isn’t the whole idea of rogation days have something to do with blessing the harvests? Thanking God for providing food is probably the first thing people got religion about.

Really thanking God for all good things in life is the least we can do. Whether we need to have a service for one particular vegetable is debatable but thankfulness for everything should come in abundance!

The ancient Israelites invoked God's blessing on their crops. In fact, this is the time of year for The Feast of First Fruits. We may ask God's blessing on any sinless endeavor, in Jesus's Name. This would include asparagus.
