The current year on the Hebrew calendar is 5778.

Joseph was reunited with his father in the year 2238, at age 39, after 7 years of plenty and 2 years of famine. The year can be deduced from Jacob's age of 130, and Joseph's age of 30 when he was released from prison nine years earlier.

Joseph was sold into slavery at age 17. Thus the family separation spanned 22 years, the same as the number of letters of the alef-beit. At this time, there were yet five years of famine, but the termination point is not mentioned in the narrative.

However, the Hebrew letters continue with five sofit (end, final) letters, the ones that take on a different form when they appear at the end of a word. While not used in the general numbering system, they nonetheless have values assigned to them:

chaf sofit - 500
mem sofit - 600
nun sofit - 700
fei sofit - 800
The final Tzaddi(k) - 900

Total - 3500

Year 2238 + "five more years of famine" (3500) = 5738. This was 1978.

In 1978, at the Camp David Accords, at the place where David encamped, Israel agreed to return [the Sinai] to Egypt. The Sinai is the place of the giving of the Law, the Torah of Moses.

2018 will mark 40 years of the returning to Egypt.

New Year's resolutions are intentions to start over, to make a clean start.

Like it never even happened.

Donald Trump took the kingdom from Obama at age 70 years, to make the Obama regime as if it never even happened. If it never even happened, then it were as if Donald Trump had been 62.

I don’t know that Ezekial’s statements are precisely correct, not having in depth knowledge. But I wouldn’t necessarily dismiss the whole concept out of hand.

Joseph From the Kabbalistic Perspective

As we have already seen, early on Joseph is linked to the fulfillment of Jacob's legacy.

At the outset, the Torah connects Jacob with Joseph. Of all his sons specifically Joseph holds the key to not only Jacob's but the family's mission. In this Torah portion, we will examine the implications of that mission from the mystical -- that is Kabbalistic -- standpoint. To do so, we must go back to the point where all it first began:

I'm well aware of the letter-number association in the ancient Hebrew alphabet and that certain numbers are associated with specific things or ideas in scripture. The problem is the way that some people start making fantastical leaps of illogical inference that makes numerology the theological equivalent of astrology.

You make a good point. The Messianic Light is actually a flood of puns, which are the lowest level of humor. Who's looking there. Dreadful, dreadful stuff. Small children would laugh though.

The word pun is of unknown origin, but the source is really not that difficult to see:

Punning is all about utilizing the many facets (faces) of words and ideas to clever, humorous effect. The Hebrew word for face is panim (a plural formation, such that a face is always more than one), which in turn (heh) is rooted in the word for corner, turning a corner, angle (pinah).

A pun is all about making many faces. As a matter of fact, the stone the builders rejected is for the head of the corner, l'rosh pinah.

Isaac means laughter, and God told Abraham that in Isaac shall his seed be called.

Some people have no sense of humor though. What can you do.

While on the subject of Jacob and Joseph and the reunification of the whole family of Israel...

The scholarly camps assign the joining of the two sticks/trees in Ezekiel 37 to the realm of the mystical and miraculous. After all, that's some pretty strange stuff. Or so it seems.

All I have to do, is join the two letters that look like forked tree branches (sticks) - the ayin (ע) and the final tzaddi(k) (ץ) - into one word and Voila! It's the word etz (עץ), the tree/stick.

Joined together as one word in the [writing] hand. It's the simple meaning.

It's so simple that a small child would catch on using refrigerator magnets.

Eze 37:19. Say to them, Thus says the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and will put them with him, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand:

Further info, The Bible clearly states that the stars are for signs and to mark the seasons.

As we can see from scripture it is God who calls the names of the stars and provides knowledge to them not man.

Psalm 19:1-3 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
