Satan Vs. The Holy Mary
The Catholic Gentleman ^ | 1227 | 3 Years Ago Mary

Posted on 01/02/2018 12:39:17 AM PST by Djl3668

Satan hates the Blessed Virgin Mary. In fact, he has been doing everything in his power to discourage devotion to her and instill hatred for her for two millennia. Have you ever noticed that it is Marian dogmas and devotions that stir the strongest reactions in those who reject the Church? Even some good Catholics are embarrassed by devotion to our Lady, and they feel we should not be too extreme in our veneration of her.

Perhaps you, too, have wondered why the Church holds the Immaculate Virgin in such high regard. Perhaps you have wonder why God has chosen to use her in the work of redemption. Today, I’d like to take a look at why the devil hates the Blessed Mother so much, and why we should be her devoted knights.

Just thinking, does Francis the Communist speak of Mary the Virgin Mother Of God often? Curious.

“In fact, he [Satan] has been doing everything in his power to discourage devotion to her and instill hatred for her for two millennia.”

This doesn’t ring true at all. Who “hates” Mary? There is nothing there to hate. She seems universally respected, if not “adored”.

Mary is not even an issue of saving faith. I’ve never met one believer in Jesus Christ who had anything but respect for Mary via the Scriptures. If a believer does not place any focus on her beyond her stated role, that is not hate.

Very fanciful exegesis.

Francis gushes about Mary. A whole book has been written about Francis’ statements about Mary:

Note: Francis has had much more to say about Mary—all of it good—since this book came out. A simple internet search will give you the gist of it.

I think some people does go a little over board trying to prove Mary was no different than any other woman, but it
is the fault of the Catholic church.

Where do the Catholics get the idea they can just make any
claim stick?

Even if a claim is true any one who is honest would realize
they had to show proof.

Even Jesus had to have twelve witnesses as to his resurrection
but the Catholics thinks of them selves as so high and mighty
that they are even higher than the almighty himself.

Any one who really believed in the creator would expect people
to doubt their word if not backed up by scripture.

This is why I believe the Catholic Church is the great mother of harlots spoken of in revelation seventeen
the Protestants do not agree because it would make them her daughter’s.

Yes, I have great respect for the mother of Jesus but if it is
all the same to you I believe the church is the whore.

It's the typical *you-don't-agree-with-me-so-it's-hate-speech* meme.

Satan hates everyone and everything.

We're supposed to follow Jesus. Period.

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

You can only believe garbage like that if your exegesis is careless and sloppy.

Rev 17 is parallel to Jer 25 and passages in Ezekiel 26 and 27, and Isaiah 47. All of those passages are condemnations uttered against specific cities; Jerusalem in Jeremiah, Tyre in Ezekiel, Babylon in Isaiah.

Revelation 17 itself speaks of the whore as a "great city," not a "church" (although Rev is perfectly happy to utter prophecies against "churches," so it's not like the concept is a foreign one). That is, unless you're really reading the Book of Mormon, which parrots the same passage, but changes "city" to "church".

But Rev itself tells you what "great city" it's talking about: Rev 11:8 tells you that the two witnesses are killed in the streets of the "great city, allegorically called 'Sodom' and 'Egypt' wherein their Lord was crucified".

Understanding that Rev 17 is talking about apostate first-century Jerusalem also explains who the "beast" is. It's Rome under the Caesars, who "comes out of the sea" (to Israelites, a western Gentile kingdom was a "beast" coming from the sea, an eastern one was a beast coming over land), first gives the woman a ride (the cozy relationship of Judaea to Rome under the Herodians), then "hates her" and "burns her with fire". (The Roman conquest of AD 70.)

The symbolism is complete and accurate.

And I will establish a feud between thee and the woman, between thy offspring and hers; she is to crush thy head, while thou dost lie in ambush at her heels (Genesis 3:15, Knox)

Bad translation leading to a lot of bad theology.

This is from the Catholic Encyclopedia online which describes itself as "the most comprehensive resource on Catholic teaching, history, and information ever gathered in all of human history."

No direct or categorical and stringent proof of the dogma [Immaculate conception] can be brought forward from Scripture. But the first scriptural passage which contains the promise of the redemption, mentions also the Mother of the Redeemer.

The sentence against the first parents was accompanied by the Earliest Gospel ( Proto-evangelium ), which put enmity between the serpent and the woman : "and I will put enmity between thee and the woman and her seed; she (he) shall crush thy head and thou shalt lie in wait for her (his) heel" ( Genesis 3:15 ). The translation "she" of the Vulgate is interpretative; it originated after the fourth century, and cannot be defended critically.

Of all the major translations the Douay Rheims is the only one that renders the verse in this manner.

Would also agree that Revelation 12:1-2, often cited by many Roman Catholics to claim Mary's "special place" in Heaven, disproves the claim of the Immaculate Conception?

1A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; 2and she was with child; and she cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth. (NASB)

THE BLESSED VIRGIN'S FIRST SELFIE:

A great sign appeared in heaven:

a woman clothed with the sun, (yes)

and the moon under her feet, (yes)

and on her head a crown of twelve stars; (can't see a crown, but then she would not crown herself because of her humility)

and she was with child; (noted by the tie around her waist)

and she cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth. (Obviously)

I will take a little time to argue one point. although I understand the church has the power to rewrite scripture
if need be.

The whore that siteth upon many waters, the waters are nations, multitudes and tongues, it is not a city.

And I think it best if we just leave scripture
out of this because the whore of Babylon is going to
write her own scripture.

Splain, Lucy. Maybe “Protestant” means something different to you, but I have heard your Revelation interpretation from many non-Catholics.

16To the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you.” Genesis 3:16 NASB

The indication she was a sinner.

Further supported by Luke.

22And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord 23(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “EVERY firstborn MALE THAT OPENS THE WOMB SHALL BE CALLED HOLY TO THE LORD”), 24and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, “A PAIR OF TURTLEDOVES OR TWO YOUNG PIGEONS.” Luke 2:22-24 NASB

Further supported by the OT Law.

6‘When the days of her purification are completed, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the priest at the doorway of the tent of meeting a one year old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering. 7‘Then he shall offer it before the LORD and make atonement for her, and she shall be cleansed from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who bears a child, whether a male or a female. 8‘But if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’” Leviticus 12:6-8 NASB

You are most likely right, I was just going by some response
which I got here on fr but mostly by the lack of response.

Seems to me it would be important enough to give a lot of thought to.

It mentions ten kings which had no power in the days of John
but has during the great harlot

In Ch 18 God tells his people to come out of her, what would God’s people be involved in that God would have to tell them to come out of?

I would say that it was a place where they thought they should
be.

Oh well just my thoughts.
