Pope Francis chooses pro-LGBT priest to guide Lent retreat who holds Jesus didn’t ‘establish rules’

Pope Francis has selected a Portuguese “priest-poet” to preach at his 2018 Lenten retreat who is an open promoter of the “critical theology” of a Spanish nun who defends the legalization of abortion and government recognition of homosexual “marriage” and adoptions.

Father José Tolentino Calaça de Mendonça, vice rector of the Catholic University of Lisbon, wrote the introduction to the Portuguese translation of “Feminist Theology in History,” by Teresa Forcades, whom the BBC calls “Europe’s most radical nun.”

When the Portuguese translation of the book was published in 2013 with Tolentino de Mendonça’s introduction, Forcades had well-established herself as an advocate for legalized abortion and the creation of homosexual “marriage.” In the same year she issued a video tribute to the Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, who was then dying of cancer.

Tolentino de Mendonça compares Forcades to Hildegard of Bingham, and says her theology is expressed in “a form that is symbolic, open, and sensitive about addressing the real” as opposed to the Church’s traditional way of speaking in clear, non-metaphorical terms, which he calls “the triumphal univocal grammars that we know.”

This pope makes me even happier that I left and became a conservative Lutheran.

I have great admiration for Pope John Paul II. This one— not a bit. He is the worst possible choice at this time in history for his role in the Church and in western civilization. I liken his election to the election of Obama — both embolden the Left. And, as with Obama, if I can avoid hearing him shoot off his stupid mouth, I do.

“In my opinion, the cure would be worse than the disease because of the upheaval it would cause.”

Without knowing how much harm Bergoglio will do, I couldn’t guess.

“Pray that God will heal his diseased Church.”

Don’t see what else I can do.

So only go to the Tridentine Mass and you will be fine.

“So only go to the Tridentine Mass and you will be fine.”

There isn’t one at a reasonable distance. Actually, not even within a moderately unreasonable distance.

We, Catholics, should take a hiatus from paying attention to Rome and just pray this man’s time is short.

“Sorry to hear that.”

Well, life’s hard, but at least you get to die at the end.

Devotion to Our Lady of Fatima, daily rosary frequent Mass and Holy Communion will help us persevere in such dark times.

Devoting yourself to "Our Lady of Fatima" and the Rosary is no worse than what the pope is doing. Both are false teachings of Roman Catholicism.

No where in Scripture are believers ever told to be devoted to an apparition or the Rosary. Both were later developments in Roman Catholicism coming at 1917 and 1569 respectively.

He’s almost right, as far as the headline goes, which is not very far.

Matthew 5:17-19 - “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Jesus did not establish rules, but he did emphatically confirm the existing rules. If God wants to change those rules, I expect Him to tell us clearly and not to just hope we somehow reinterpret scripture to mean the exact opposite of what it says.

...." doing everything he can to destroy his church."...

It's NOT his church! It belongs to Jesus. He is the under Shepard. Look up the verses in the Bible speaking of the "hireling". There are verses that speak of the False Prophet in Revelation.

Just as an example of how ridiculous this is getting,..."Jesus didn't establish rules"....Jesus is God, He established all the rules. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus is the Word. Jesus is God. When Jesus spoke the earth was formed. Nothing was created that He didn't create. Jesus is the name given to the "Son" of God". Just like Melchizedek was a form of God on earth, the Angel of the Lord was a form of God on earth, The finger that wrote the 10 Commandments was a form of God, the Burning Bush was a form of God,...Jesus was God put into a human form. The pillar of smoke and fire was God. It's all the same One God. Jesus said, I and the Father are One. If you've seen Me, you've seen the Father.

People that are looking for 3 Gods are missing the point. There is One God that came in 3 forms. God is Spirit. Jesus is a man filled with this Spirit. Jesus was glorified in a man's body. Jesus made the rules, and then came to fulfill them as a man. Jesus said He didn't come to condemn mankind, but to save them. Then He said the Word would judge them. He is the Word. It will be Jesus that will be throwing unbelievers into hell after everyone has been preaching Grace from Jesus. In the Valley of Megido, Jesus will slaughter enough people to fill the valley 5-6 ft high for 184 miles.

Explaining God as a "Trinity" is wrong. It's easier to understand as a Triune God. One God in 3 forms. Being a Trinity infers 3 Gods. There is only one God and he made the rules and then fulfilled them. One of the rules is sodomites won't see the Kingdom of God.

I agree. When he made fun of people with lots of kids as being like rabbits, I did not think that was funny. That was just the beginning. I have seen pictures of him sitting during the Consecration of the Eucharist, when he is relatively healthy.

He is such a disappointment. But, I do believe that he will not be successful in the end and he will have much to answer for.

Jesus did not establish rules,

Actually, He did establish new rules.
He gave us a new commandment in John 13:34.
He established a new commandment in 1 Cor 13:37, related to what should happen in a church service.
In Acts 17:30, He now commands all men, everywhere to repent.
In 1 John 3:23, the command is given: "And THIS is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

I considered those, but “love” and “repent” strike me as commands on how to conduct ourselves. I was reading ‘establish rules’ in the sense of Leviticus.

“Honor thy Father and thy Mother”

Yes!

But no where in that admonition is the following ever allowed:

carving out statues of your mom or dad

kneeling before them and praying to them

being dependent upon your mom for your salvation

devoting entire schools to the study of your mom

attributing to your mom supernatural abilities

Roman Catholicism has done all of those with Mary.
