Inside the White House Bible Study group
BBC News ^ | 04/08/2018 | Owen Amos

For the first time in at least 100 years, the US Cabinet has a bible study group. What do they learn? What does Donald Trump make of it? And why aren't women allowed to teach?

Every Wednesday, some of the world's most powerful people meet in a conference room in Washington DC to learn about God.

The location can't be revealed - the Secret Service won't allow it - but the members can.

Vice-President Mike Pence. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. Energy Secretary Rick Perry. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The list goes on.

In total, 10 cabinet members are "sponsors" of the group. Not everyone attends every meeting - they are busy people - but they go if they can.

Meetings last between 60 and 90 minutes, and members are free to contact the teacher after-hours. So who is the man leading the United States' most-influential bible study?

Step forward Ralph Drollinger, a seven-foot tall basketball pro turned pastor. Or, as the 63-year-old describes himself: "Just a jock with some bad knees

Drollinger grew up in La Mesa, a suburb of San Diego, California. As a child, he rarely went to church - "Probably half a dozen times," he says - and didn't get far with the Bible.

"I always promised myself I'd read it," he says. "But every time I tried, it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me."

In his last year of high school, after a basketball game, some cheerleaders invited him to bible study. He went, and his world changed.

The “millenial reign” is a 1000 year demonstration of the total depravity of men.

Satan will be bound, but evil will still prevail.

>> “he had to ask Jesus if He really was the Messiah” <<

No, he didn’t.

He declared him to be the Lamb of Yehova who would take away the sins of the world.

Yochannon was the true High Priest of his time, and knew that Yeshua had come to die, not to reign.

It was the Pharisees that were without a clue.

No currently living men will be “born again” until the day of trumpets.

That moment of change places us in the kingdom of Yehova.

Read John ch 3 carefully, without pre-conceived notions.

Matt 11: 2Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples 3and said to Him, “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?” 4Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: 5the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. 6“And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.”

Mark 11 was before they were face to face.

The moment they were face to face he declared him to be the savior.

>> “Old Testament laws meant for Israel that were pushed aside in the New.” <<

Where did you get that idea?

Its not in the word, that is for sure!

If you are not Israel, you cannot enter the kingdom.

The covenant that Yeshua renewed in his blood is only for Israel. Yeshua stated plainly that he was sent only to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.

As Paul plainly stated in Romans 2, only those that keep the covenant will be justified. Only those that have his laws written on their heart.

Is Matthew ch 5 missing from your Bible? The law must continue as long as Earth and the heavens exist.

Matthew 5:19

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Didn’t wish to get in the fray on FB, but as to
“And why aren’t women allowed to teach?”

Interesting Jesus never forbade this. (John 4 - He sent a Samaritan divorcee to a village - teaching the men them what she knew about the Messiah, and lead them right to Jesus.)

Likewise in Acts 18, Priscilla was one of the teachers of Apollos, a preacher that rivalled Paul.

Just to say, I’m on your side in questioning this.

Acts 10:9 The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray. 10 And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance 11 and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.” 15 And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.” 16 This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.

Enjoy some pork. Enjoy some lobster.

Thanks for the encouraging ping.

Remind [the people] of these facts and [solemnly] charge them in the presence of the Lord to avoid petty controversy over words, which does no good but upsets and undermines the faith of the hearers. (2 Timothy 2:14 AMP)

>>” that were pushed aside in the New.”<<

nothing was pushed aside. Jesus said He came to fulfill the old. they are still valid just fulfilled.

Uh....yes they were fulfilled....but there is no need for the Temple sacrifices as seen in the OT.

As Christians, we are not under obligation to keep the OT Laws.

Jesus' death on the cross as a one time sacrifice for our sins replaced the OT sacrifices for sin.

Matt 11: 2Now when John, while imprisoned,

this was before he was beheaded and because, if I were him, of hearing about healing and teaching and resurrections instead of raising an army to take over the world and my being in prison knowing I was going to die soon.

John began his ministry based on Old Testament truths of salvation due to repentance and God being our righteousness. Not even the disciples could understand the thought of God dying for us.

You need to read Peter’s interpretation of the vision.

You’re way off. It was that he should call no man unclean. It had nothing to do with food.

He understood it because that was his calling, as high priest. The disciples understood the things that the holy spirit revealed to them, when it was revealed to them.

Yeshua’s death was “Old Testament truth.” It was the promise of the covenant even to Abraham.

They are not “Old Testament Laws,” they are as James said, “The Perfect Law of Liberty.”

They are “The Righteousness of Yehova”

They are the parameters of the covenant that Yeshua renewed in his blood.
