bttt so I don't forget. It's awful to be so conflicted at this point of my life. I think issues I've had might have affected my inability to believe in my heart that God loves me like some people are able to so confidently claim, especially those who have been loved, maybe moreso by a believer. Like "I have always known that God loves me" A Catholic therapist I won't name.

Intellectually I definitely believe it. But even with love, it's hard to keep it pure and unconditional and as the bible says "without guile". The latter doesn't seem to be emphasized enough or that people have enough introspection to see their true motives in things they do for good or for ill.

Hope things are going well for you and yours.

"As I live, says the Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but they turn from their ways and live". To me, that's a promise that God loves everyone and no one will be turned away if they repent their misdeeds. I've also been witness to something one might consider a miracle which tends to confirm this.

For myself, I've always had a hard time with the "love thy enemy part". But on inspection, what good is it if you only love your friends, and hate your enemies? It's what everyone does. It serves no purpose and accomplishes nothing. But to wish well for those who hate you requires effort, and can possibly lead to reconciliation. It's a goal, therefore, not just something that comes easy.
