#2: "I had heard that Assad protected minority religions in Syria."

That's the way it's been in those countries. Even Saddam Hussein laid off the Christians. Getting rid of Assad solves nothing.

What’s the other choice, to kiss up to Assad’s actions no matter what he does?

The die was cast in 2011 when Obama, Clinton, McCain, Brennan, et al. teamed-up with the Saudis in launching a pro-sunni regime-change on Assad. In for a penny, in for pound. Want to really see the threat of Islamist terror increase? Give them total control of the mid-east.

Also, the idea we are going to "fix" the middle east is fools errand.

You seem to assume that the idea is to “fix the middle east.” Just to keep it from getting over a certain threshold of rambunctiousness is quite sufficient.

I totally agree. So what was the goal of Obama and his team's efforts to stir up trouble there?

That looks like being pro-Islamic for its own sake.

But we aren’t talking about surgical actions like Donald Trump’s here.

It has nothing to do with Trump.

Historically, the group the Assads persecuted is the Muslim Brotherhood.

Obama and his crew were not happy with Assad for opposing their vaunted Arab Springtime. So, anything they have to say about Assad is a bold-faced lie.

And that includes McStain.

doesn’t mean that it’s peachy to be using chemical WMD on populations.

I am not so peachy to buy into the Assad used chemcial weapons. The terrorists have 100x more reasons to have used them.

Which tells me he’s not the mad man France/UK/NYT/Washington Post/Clinton/Obama/Kerry/McCain/Lindsey/etc. have told us he is.

If terrorists could fly planes into our buildings 15 years ago, my guess is they could set off a few chemical weapons to make it look like someone else did it. Yeah, and I don’t believe they would have had any problem getting them over the last several years.

The motivation for terrorists wanting to overthrow Assad by using chemical weapons is easy to understand. Why Assad would use them is completetly insane. He’s not insane.

If Obunghole wanted to depose Assad, shouldn’t we be pursuing the opposite strategy?

That’s a very accurate list of the historical themes and causes. How risky it is, to take away a structure, without being sure of what will happen next.
