Such a law defeats itself. Who is going to confess to a priest something that will immediate result in the police arresting them.


In an article today on FR, an Irish Catholic priest refused to perform a wedding ceremony because of the groom’s views on abortion.

So we have one priest refusing to do his job because of someone’s beliefs, while the Australian priests provide secrecy, relief and spiritual succor to child molesters.

They can’t both be right.

Wrong on all counts. One refuses the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony to someone who embraces the dead baby cult. In the majority of cases Confession is anonymous, the priest does not know who the penitent is. As for relief, he would be counseled to turn himself in before any absolution would be given.

Well, yes, actually they can both be right. If the Irish pro-abort would like to sincerely repent, he too would be welcome in the confessional. You understand the difference between a repentant sinner and an unrepentant one, don’t you? God certainly does; the Bible says so.
