Religion and culture are inextricably intertwined. One benefits the other. Or, in the case of devil worship and most pagan religions, the one does not benefit the other, but worship subtracts from the successes of the culture. If one went with, say, Christianity, one would participate in the most successful civilizational model in human history. If someone participates in any other religion, one not only doesn’t benefit the larger culture, but at best gets along with it, and at worst, destroys it. Why would anyone, witnessing two thousand years of success, support a different civilizational model?
I will take a shot at answering the question. Governments, by policy and laws, have made Christianity unfashionable. They have done this because they, governments, want to replace the worship of Christ with the worship of government.
They want you to worship Government AND Government leaders, I.E. THEM...
That is why Totalitarian societies always have a cult of personality.
It’s just the pendulum swinging, like it does every thousand years. What’s old is new again.
Because it's obviously not working any longer, that's why.
30 years ago I saw the rise in my generation of neo paganism most were at best unreligious people who would claim to worship the old gods becouse it sounded cool to say. for a lot of theses individuals they are Larping at it and not serius. I am sure that some are serious but not many. Start talking philosophical with a lot of theses so called pagans and they turn off becouse they truly dont want enlightenment the want a magical belief system that does not call for self examination.
