Did you read the article?
Verrecchio addressed that aspect of the JPII Catechism, contrasting it to the Churchs traditional doctrine on Capital Punishment as stated in the Roman Catechism (aka Catechism of the Council of Trent).
He destroyed Sodom and allowed His Only Son to be crucified by a civil authority.
“I ignore all post VCII catechisms,”
Which would explain your ignorance on the development of doctrine. I always told you that you don’t know what you’re talking about and here you are admitting it.
I know the difference between “development” and “reversal” of doctrine. I wish you would.
“I know the difference between development and reversal of doctrine. I wish you would.”
You can’t if you ignore the sources that show the development - and you just admitted that you ignore them. Embracing ignorance is not a way to know things.
Another reason I ignore the post-VCII catechisms. Muslims adoring the same God as Catholics do is not a "development of doctrine.
Apparently I haven’t embraced ignorance as much as you have.
I have to know the catechisms to reject them. I have quoted from several of them; you haven’t.
“I have to know the catechisms to reject them. I have quoted from several of them; you havent.”
So, in other words, when you say you ignore them, you were actually knowingly posting a falsehood. Check.
I realize I have broken my own caucus, so to all: consider it open.
What falsehoood?
Don’t just make vague accusations without evidence.
Can we drop this for tonight?
Once I read and recognize heresy, I ignore it from then on.
I readily admit I cannot define these different levels of development, but there is a broader picture here? This omission of capital punishment will gradually increase appreciation of pro-life across the spectrum.
I disagree; I believe most pro-aborts, e.g. Democrats, are also against the death penalty.
Why has nobody called for the execution of baby-killers?
The Roman Catechism of the Council of Trent. Imagine THAT.
Its helpful to hear that Catholic dogma, faith and catechisms actually precedes the past 5 or 6 decades, contrary to Stompy Foot Jorges little 5 years stint of drive-by shoot um ups, against all that is holy.
Who knew?
Poor George.
This is just the Jorge slipping his toe in the door, getting the snowball rolling, the first direct in-your-face step down the slippery slope, the camels nose under the tent, et cetera, et cetera. We all know exactly what is going on. Heart breaking.
God still instituted the death penalty, and that is undeniable. Furthermore, he also gave civil government the power execute justice to deal with evil-doers (Romans 13:3), and that is not limited to God's people, but also to gentiles.
The hard core leftist mindset leads them to want to tear down all the pillars of society, first and foremost the family. At the heart of it is the murder of children. The hard cores that control this issue are evil, plain and simple. That anything will change their minds is as pipe dream
The concept came from Cardinal Bernardin’s Seamless Garment. It wormed its way onto the CCC and the Gospel of Life.
Punishing capital offenders, as defined by the Word of God, by legitimate authority is a righteous act.
Nothing the current Pontiff says is going to change the Natural Law.
I wonder how the pro-capital punishment crowd feel about unborn babies being given death sentences through abortion.
