Michael J. Lichens is the Editor of Catholic Exchange. When he's not revising and editing, he is often found studying and writing about GK Chesterton, Religion and Literature, or random points of local history. He holds an A.M. from the University of Chicago Divinity School and a BA from The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts.
A look at what we as individuals can do, rather than be negative.
Pondering and praying Ping!
It all comes down for the need to repent and be converted to Christ.
Sorry but most of the current hierarchy and Pope Francis must resign. Not sure what would evolve but what now exists is not holy. Loyal Catholics believe that there is a Spirit that is driving these abominable, perverted homosexuals out of the temple. They are being driven out with a whip. Not the sort of whip that they have become accustomed or like.
This is talking about what we can do. Are you talking about what the perpetrators can do?
From the article:
**Pray, readers, for all of us here who now have to contend with a strange, new world and let me pray for you as you bear your own struggles with this scandal. **
here is the Catholic League Bill Donohue’s reply.

in case anyone is interested.
We as laypersons are going to have to pick up the slack. The ball is in our court.
He said “In fact, there is no institution, private or public, that has less of a problem with the sexual abuse of minors today than the Catholic Church”.
He is in total denial.
What can be done is simple: Tear into ever diocese in the US and turn out ever predator there is - systematically and without emotion.
This is just a single diocese. Others are either in great shape, equally as bad, or worse. To move on, the state of each diocese must be known and steps must be taken, either to learn from the good ones and put into practice their experience, or to clean up the bad ones.
Better question, what about the Cardinals? The Pope? How far up does this go?
Thank you for posting the facts.
From that article:
**Here is what’s going on. There are many vicious critics of the Catholic Church who would like to weaken its moral authority, and will seize on any problem it has to discredit its voice. Why? They hate its teachings on sexuality, marriage, and the family.**
That article deserves its own thread. But not now — later.
This situation is not new. Read through the Old Testament and New Testament as to how many times the religious leaders have perverted God’s design.
Anyone want to read their Bible and see what God says about the matter?
Hint: It is what the Prophets preached. It is what John the Baptist preached. It is what Jesus preached. It is what the Apostles peached.
This article does not even come close to what God says on the matter although it does sound nice to our itching ears. Report back what God’s word says, not what you think it says... .
Took a look at the article and I wonder if he should have talked to the PA AG first.
I read this and made a brief comment on FR about it. People began attacking me. People believe what they want to believe, I’ve found.
“We as laypersons are going to have to pick up the slack. The ball is in our court.”
Yes. Cardinale Burke and Bishop Rice have boldly described the problem and it starts with homosexual priests and bishops. I believe we need to support them but also to work outside the Magisterium to help fix this evil. Praying.
God bless
Everyone should read that report.
Right now I am surprised by his comments.
The Cardinal and the Bishop has it correct.
