Okay, so I write to the bishop and tell him that all sodomites must be laicized immediately.

I’ve just wasted a sheet of paper, some ink, a stamp, and an envelope.

Are the faithful going to boycott masses illicitly celebrated by sodomite priests? Are parishioners going to drive sodomite priests out of their towns?

Short of burning them at the stake, how are we to rid ourselves of these loathsome, satanic predators?

I doubt that your paper will be wasted. At the least your actions will be recorded in heaven if not in the Bishop’s in-box.

Yes, when we can find a detailed paper on this topic, written by a very well-educated man, not at any extreme, who is devoted to our Catholic faith, why would we not read it!?

Try Bill Donahue’s (Catholic League dot org) next article on the website about Cardinal Wuerl.

Did you actually do this, or are you just trying to stir up things on this thread?

It all comes down for the need to repent and be converted to Christ.

Amen to that!

Well...that’s a good point.

But it leaves me wondering what to do after that.

You have not heard this, just consider:

Why the rage, lies, innuendo, name-calling and sheer malice toward Wuerl? His real record is excellent. The Vatican has thrown Wuerl under the bus. He’s now a distraction or red herring to remove focus from homesexuals. When McCarrick story broke, everyone saw that homos in Church were THE cause. Now that Wuerl is all the focus, what happened to homo concerns? The Church IS gay, that’s what people don’t get. The top is more gay than the people. It is deliberate.

“Did you actually do this, or are you just trying to stir up things on this thread?”

It’s a legitimate question.

I’ll be writing the bishop after I give the matter a good think. In all probability the bishop will never see the letter; if he does, he’s almost certain to contemn it.

What then?

Well, isn't this special...

As sex abuse scandal worsens, Bishop Malone faults some Catholics for withholding donations

3:02 PM, Aug 13, 2018

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - The sexual abuse scandal in the Diocese of Buffalo continues to worsen, with 80 clerics now accused of sexual misconduct and two of the bishop’s top aides leaving his side.

Bishop Richard J. Malone, meanwhile, is faulting lay Catholics for closing their wallets and criticizing reporters for their coverage of the sex abuse crisis.

So with all that's going on with the scandal, this bishop complains that his laity isn't putting enough money in the collection plates. Lovely.

Being a good spouse and parent is hard enough for a person who has one spouse and one family.

If parish priests are married they effectively are taking care of two families.

It can be done but celibacy allows them to be totally devoted to their parish family.

Celibacy for parish priests also allows their bishops to move them at any time to any place where they are needed.

These are just a couple of practical issues regarding celibacy.

With that said, there are Catholic priests who are married and who are excellent leaders of their parish families.

Jesuit, actually, in Spokane. Gonzaga fired Bob Spitzer some years back, for being too Catholic. Just fyi.

The ball's in your court. The responsibility to make a stink is yours. Have you considered cc'ing the local newspaper?

I believe that Fr. Spitzer stepped down voluntarily after holding the presidency for over a decade. There are other things that he wanted to accomplish, such as his Leadership/Ethics Institute.

IMO, there's no way he could have been fired, after all he accomplished during his tenure, which included establish a firm financial footing for the school. However, I live in Texas, a long way from Spokane, so I was out of the loop. I will do some checking into this for my own edification.

Salvation, I have been an active, practicing Catholic for over 20 years at St. Ann parish in Coppell, TX. I converted through RCIA in 97/98.

“...I heard...” is the cause of most of this scandal. Do you KNOW is the point?

Yes, you are out of the loop. I was not speculating, I happen to know him. Of course I meant firing in the nice way it’s done in the Church and universities. His refurbishing of the chapel alone freaked them out. Note, I wish people would realize that truth is rarely found by googling.

He said this in June about a specific collection. I read it then and it was not unreasonable in the context of helping families. 2 months, very different now. Don’t be a dupe of the media.

For a long time I kept up with Donahue and now I’m going back to reading him. He doesn’t get hysterical - although he’s no fool when it comes to this type of scandal.
