Hence, original sin is called the “Sin of Adam” because as head of the household he bore ultimate responsibility for what took place. The explanation I heard and liked was that Adam said “that woman whom YOU made gave me the apple, so I ate it.” In other words, Adam was throwing the blame back on God, for having put Eve in his life. Eve was wrong, but Adam’s attitude was what really ticked off God.
