The Corruption of the Vaticanís Gay Elite Has Been Exposed
New York Magazine ^ | Feb 22, 2019 | Andrew Sullivan

Posted on 02/23/2019 5:32:13 PM PST by newberger

I spent much of this week reading and trying to absorb the new and devastating book by one Frédéric Martel on the gayness of the hierarchy at the top of the Catholic Church, In the Closet of the Vatican: Power, Homosexuality, Hypocrisy. It’s a bewildering and vast piece of reporting — Martel interviewed no fewer than “41 cardinals, 52 bishops and monsignori, 45 apostolic nuncios, secretaries of nunciatures or foreign ambassadors, 11 Swiss Guards and over 200 Catholic priests and seminarians.” He conducted more than 1,500 interviews over four years, is quite clear about his sources, and helps the reader weigh their credibility. He keeps the identity of many of the most egregiously hypocritical cardinals confidential, but is unsparing about the dead.

The picture Martel draws is jaw-dropping. Many of the Vatican gays — especially the most homophobic — treat their vows of celibacy with an insouciant contempt. Martel argues that many of these cardinals and officials have lively sex lives, operate within a “don’t ask, don’t tell” culture, constantly hit on young men, hire prostitutes, throw chem-sex parties, and even pay for sex with church money. How do we know this? Because, astonishingly, they tell us.

So much of the information in the book comes from sources deep within the Holy See. Named and unnamed, they expose their fellow cardinals and bishops and nuncios as hypocrites, without perhaps realizing that their very targets are doing the same to them. Martel didn’t expect this remarkable candor, or, clearly, what he was about to see: “Whether they are ‘practising’, ‘homophile’, ‘initiates’, ‘unstraights’, ‘wordly’, ‘versatile’, ‘questioning’, or simply ‘in the closet’, the world I am discovering, with its 50 shades of gay, is beyond comprehension.”

Considering that Andrew Sullivan is an openly gay journalist, I think this article is a remarkable expose (beyond belief) of the Vatican.

Although I am not Roman Catholic, I pray regularly for Catholics who are distressed by what is happening in their church.

It’s become a pit of iniquity.

Is it just a coincidence that the Vatican is currently abandoning the Gospel in favor of a “unitarian” cop-out?

“It’s become a pit of iniquity.”

Yes it has and I would add Marxists who push the idea that my air conditioned car is more of an affront to God then murdering unborn children

What has Pope Frankie not done??? Those were his words. So, it sounds like he doesn’t acknowledge the problems or wish to be involved. I vote for term limits for Popes.

Looks like a homosexual hit piece to me. Andrew Sullivan has been promoting the homosexual agenda for decades. What he is saying the book tells us: Those who are most anti-homosexual are actually the most homosexual.

Working against homosexuality in the Church, is only done by people who are closet homosexuals.

Essentially, if you are against homosexuality in the Church, it is because you are a homosexual yourself.

Therefore, Pope Francis, who has been coming across as the most pro-homosexual pope in many decades, is actually the most anti-homosexual pope!

I am not buying it.

The author is also a homosexual. Maintain a healthy skepticism.

Catholic Church = man-made religion. It is not based on the Bible and/or the teachings of Christ.

I doubt if they would agree with that.

I agree. Lately the homos have been labeling their opponents not only as homophobes, but also secret homos. In other words everyone is either a flaming homo or a closet homo.

Brings to mind Mos Eisley - You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

Does that make Pope Che - Jabba the Hut?

As in the days of Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah. God will spew out the fence sitters in any denomination. You have to be totally in with God. . .believing in His Word. I’ve been really getting into the Word more now than ever. . .formulating questions for a Sunday School class to use when going through the Bible Chronologically. For a quick test of your knowledge may I recommend http://doinggood.org/BibleQuizzes.asp. Not every chapter is covered extensively, but it certainly gives you an overview. I am now using the NIV translation which can make things a little confusing on some of the questions. Give it a try,.

Whenever I read something like this my BS Meter usually pegs high.

These high officials of the Church simply invited this smut monger in to their offices and told him deeply damaging secrets just because he asked? It begs belief.

Does some of what he says happen? No doubt.

Would any of those practicing admit it to an author? I very much doubt it.

It would not profit the pervs and it could damage them. Such men are not that trusting of those that they do not control.

This book does not pass the smell test. I’ve smelled better pig farms on a hot day in July.

I believe some of his accusations are untrue. After all, he has a bias on this subject.

Andrew Sullivan is a homosexual (not sure about about Frédéric Martel though he seems to write a lot about gay stuff anyway). I’m going to go out on a limb and say he is one of those type of fags that thinks every guy every where is secretly gay...especially guys who mildly dislike homosexuals.
