Women do not want to become nuns. Who thinks that they would actually want to join the priesthood? Too many modern women are not interested in lives of religious service. The priesthood has no place for “I am woman hear me roar”.

It is my understanding that the Catholic Church had married priests but they were phased out because being a priest was once a well-compensated profession and priest jobs basically became family-owned.

Given the problems the Church now faces with priest provision, such as homosexuality and child abuse, the marriage ban probably needs to go.
