Maybe it won’t start until Jews have actual sovereignty on the Temple Mount. Moshe Dayan gave the Mount back to Muslims almost immediately because he didn’t want messianic fever to go too wild.

That might be the right way to look at it. Who knows? We can certainly know the season by discerning the times we’re living in. That’s a commandment that most fail to heed.
