This is only about the offices at the Vatican, not the entire church.

Both are nonsense. Perhaps if they taught the gospel?

I did a search and could not come up with anything described as saved Western society.

Not doubting, just curious what they were.

You can bet the Peter’s Pence Collection is going to be at least 70% off normal and normal was never enough.

“Maybe if they preached Catholicism instead of “climate change” ...

“Maybe if they preached Catholicism”....

The Crusades (1095-1291), first proclaimed by Pope Urban II.

Holy League (1571), arranged by Pope Pius V, included almost all the major Catholic maritime states in the Mediterranean; defeated Ottomans in Battle of Lepanto.

Holy League (1594), established in 1594 by Pope Clement VIII was a military alliance of predominantly Christian European countries (Holy League) aimed against the Ottoman Empire during the Long War (1591–1606).

Holy League (1684), organized by Pope Innocent XI, composed of the Holy Roman Empire, Poland-Lithuania and the Venetian Republic; defended Vienna and fought Ottomans in the Great Turkish War.

Holy League (1717), allying the Papal States to Portugal, Venice and Malta against the Ottoman Empire and which resulted in the Battle of Matapan

It goes back a bit, to the fall of the Roman Empire, but their priests managed to both evade the Barbarians and keep the really important writings of the Romans and Greeks hidden through the Dark Ages.

And they were certainly helpful in ending the Cold War too.

Our parish is in great shape unless the bishop appropriates our savings in the diocesan bank, even if, we have a chunk of money in a local account.

According to Wikipedia, The Mexican word güero ultimately originates from the Spanish word huero ("empty"),
therefore, the Jesuit calling for all external funds of Catholic funds is an "empty" suit.
Seems appropriate ... /sarc

The “gospel” according to your mad German monk and your nutty French lawyer? No thanks; I’ll take the “nonsense” Gospel of the Jewish carpenter from Nazareth over that any day.

That nutty French lawyer coined the term TULIP to stand for 5 tenets of the Bible...

My ancestors were Huguenots...

*shrug* how many Christians died to the Catholic religion? Don’t peer too closely at history. My wish is that all would see the gospel and the truth, not the man made stuff.

From a progressive rock album on the life of Martin Luther, Sola Scriptura by Neal Morse -- How Can I Stay Silent.

The song after that, The Door is a real barn-burner. Thoughtful then a blistering guitar solo...

With this Marxist clown for a Pope and the Catholics turning their backs on morals who gives a damn if the church goes bankrupt.

Is “I’m from Rome and here to help you” in Latin more scary than “I’m from the government and here to help you” in English?

God rest Reagan, JPII, and Thatcher—the days when at least some men were men, and at least one lady knew how to be a Lady.
