The Orthodox Church is NOT a denomination. It is the Church of the Apostles, founded at Pentecost. And—with some not-so-good exceptions—it does not tell you how to vote!!
The video I referenced shows the difference between the Church and denominations.
The problem with “sticking to the Bible” is that there as many interpretations of it as there are believers. And some of the Bible’s alleged interpreters are telling us to vote for Biden/Harris, or even to go out into the streets and riot!!!!
If we did not have the pandemic, I would tell you to visit the nearest English-language Orthodox Church and see for yourself. With God’s help, you may be able to do that in 2021.
Ahhh.... you must also be an anti-Catholic, BI POLAR BOBBY!
You DO realize......(you PROBABLY DO NOT) that it was CATHOLICS that assembled the writings of the NEW TESTAMENT that made up the BIBLE.....PLEASE LOOK IT UP!! Do YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR AND LOOK IT UP! IT WASN;T KING JAMES!!!
I realize many things. Gods Word comes from God. He inspired many writers to pen His Thoughts on paper. He did use Catholics to assemble the writings is true. But no Catholics wrote any part of the Bible.
Absolutely! Join the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church!
You need to be banned. Intolerant, arrogant & ignorant.
Screw you.
Stop screaming at people. What the hell is wrong with you?
Patience, grasshopper. You’re dealing with Catholics.
No, It was Messianic Jews.
Messianic Jews wrote and kept the letters but Catholics collated them into what we know as the New Testament. It is well documented.
Your comment: “I am pro-Bible. If that makes me anti-Catholic then that’s their problem. Not mine.”
According to John 12:48, it is your problem when you reject God’s Truth and His Catholic Church. You should be pro-God’s Truth, not your selected version.
Your comment: “Messianic Jews wrote and kept the letters but Catholics collated them into what we know as the New Testament. It is well documented.”
You have no documentation that the writers of the New Testament were not Catholics (yes, they were Jews (as was Christ) that followed Christ and became part of the Catholic Church through Baptism.) You should be thankful for the oral tradition of early Catholics at Mass that passed down the teachings of Jesus before they were written.
As with the Old Testament, God is the primary author of the New Testament, and there are various human authors as well (CCC 110-14). Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the human authors of the four Gospels, and St. Paul authored the majority of the other New Testament books.
Yet Peter was a never a leader of the Church in Rome. Linus was the first Bishop for the church in Rome.
I wouldn't be quoting John 12:48 if I were a Catholic. The RCC beliefs are in opposition to many things in the Bible which are covered up by "tradition". I'm not interested in a Catholic vs. Protestant vs. Jew mudfest thread. You will not change your Catholic mind and I will stick to the Bible in mine. I gave Catholicism credit for collating and preserving Scripture, we should just let it go at that.
Your comment: “I gave Catholicism credit for collating and preserving Scripture, we should just let it go at that. “
But you deny the writers were Catholic, thus you deny the Truth.
You are entitled to your beliefs and opinions, but not your own facts about God’s Truth. I try to defend God’s Truth by countering false teaching.
Your false statements:
“Laughable. Peter is never referred to as such.” Then, you are laughing at Jesus.
“And not a hint of succession of Apostles.”
So you deny the succession of Matthias. (Acts 1:12) and Timothy
“The Church was to be pure and members held to a standard.”
Christ came for sinners and directed His Church to do greater works than He did. So your church has no sinners? Perhaps you didn’t understand John 12:48 that “the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day”
Yes, there are many sinners in the Catholic Church including the leadership, and hopefully they will repent and do penance before their death or in Purgatory. The Catholic faith has stood true to God’s revealed Truth in the Bible and Sacred Tradition.
Your fallible opinion indicates that all of God’s revealed truth is in the Bible. So you want to deny God the ability to continue to provide His Truth to us?
Perhaps, we will change upon the promised Illumination where we will see our soul as God does!
Laughable. Peter is never referred to as such. Then, you are laughing at Jesus.
I laugh at your silly assertions. It took Catholicism 400 years to float the idea of Peters so called "supremacy". Nothing in the Bible supports it. And no, Peter is not the Rock or cornerstone of the Church. I never laugh at Jesus which makes you a false accuser of the brethren.
So you want to deny God the ability to continue to provide His Truth to us?
No, I do not limit Gods authority in any way. However for it to be truly from God, it would have to be consistent with Gods Truth and Word. We can't take any one persons or denominations word that they have received some divine guidance for a deviant path. There are too many examples of that disastrous strategy.
Your comment: “It took Catholicism 400 years to float the idea of Peters so called “supremacy”. Nothing in the Bible supports it. And no, Peter is not the Rock or cornerstone of the Church. I never laugh at Jesus which makes you a false accuser of the brethren.”
You are in serious denial of truth and history. Jesus says to Peter “and on this rock I will build my church” “I will give you the keys to the kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven...”
That is very specific authority granted to St Peter and his successors. There are many ministers named in the Bible that were not Apostles but were the successors to the Apostles.
Your comment: “I am saying there is no current living counterparts to the original 12 Disciples.”
So you are saying that Jesus established His Catholic Church and didn’t provide for succession of Bishops and Priests? That doesn’t make logical sense that Jesus would do all the work to reveal God’s Truth, found His Church and not have a means for it to continue and grow.
Do you really believe that Jesus started one Church and supports 40,000 different versions of God’s Truth with multiple denominations?
I believe that Jesus is very upset that so many Christians worship their own version of God,blame others and do not seek God’s Truth.
One can make up their own truth or ignore the truth, but one ignores God’s Truth at their own peril. John 12:48
No, I am saying #1 Jesus did NOT establish the Catholic denomination and #2 there are no proxy counterparts for the disciples (for example the Petrine chair to replace Peter). Of course there are to be priests and bishops to run churchs but they are not directly tied to anybody in the past. They are their own person.
AND you still don't know what the keys to Heaven that were given to the Disciples are. Shame, shame.
So you change your version of history to your false opinion or a false teaching.
I do hope that you accept God’s Truth instead of your personal fantasy before you die.
