Amen. I’m a Bible scholar. And nowhere in the Bible is denominationalism taught or encouraged

God left His Word not a denomination.

________________________________________________________

God did leave one person to be at the head of the church as His representative on earth, Peter.

While Peter was not a Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Presperterian or any other demonination there was “a church” regardless of what it was called. Once Peter and all the other Apostles were gone the church seemed to drift in to different directions. Constatntine who was at the time the head of three other religions decided that the church of his mother was taking over the world and needed leadership and organization. He called together most of the bishops of Christanity and had a council where in he decided what was admissible in the Christian Church and what was not. Many doctrines that we find in scripture were codified by Constantine as Church Cannon. The new organization was no longer called “The Christian Church” but the “Universal (Catholic) Church. It pretty much existed that way for the next 800 years until the Eastern Orthodox Church was established. Orthodox simply meant that they didn’t go along with a lot of new ideas in religion. Both churches claimed the authority of Peter to administer the affairs of their church. A few hundred years later Martin Luther came along and split away from the (Now Roman) Catholic Church and claimed the same authority of Peter because he had been ordained a priest. Today we have over 45 thousand “Christian” denominations or at least churches who claim to be Christian. That is about 2-1/2 billion people.

So, I would say Donald Trump not picking out a particular denomination is wise, very wise. Wise not for political reasons but because how could he know which one is better than the other. He believes in Jesus Christ and probably feels that one church is as good as another. Until God tells one is better than another I think he is doing the wise thing. More importantly that he claimes to be a follower of Jesus Christ is more important than which church he belongs to.
