Cardinal Dolan endorses Fr. James Martin’s new LGBT activism group

(LifeSiteNews) – Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York recently gave a strong endorsement of Fr. James Martin’s activism and the dissident Jesuit’s new LGBT group “Outreach.”

In a letter dated May 5 and published late last month by Outreach, Dolan praised the organization, which Martin launched this year, describing it as “an important ministry” ahead of its annual conference in June.

“Thanks for the chance to greet you as you gather for the Outreach 2022 conference at Fordham University,” Dolan wrote. “No one should ever feel that they are alienated from God’s love or ineligible for His grace and mercy.”

“Jesus’ last words to his disciples before His ascension into heaven was to ‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.’ That’s ‘outreach!’”

The cardinal concluded by expressing his hope that the conference, which featured transgender and homosexual activists and prominent dissident Catholics, would “strengthen you.”

Martin launched Outreach at the beginning of May in partnership with America Media, which publishes the U.S. Jesuits’ America magazine. The group has particularly pushed for churches to support LGBT “pride” month, which often involves aggressive sexualization of young children and public displays of nudity and sex acts.

In his letter, Cardinal Dolan commended Outreach for allegedly working for “the virtue of chastity,” though nothing on the group’s website affirms Catholic doctrine on chastity and Martin has claimed that homosexuals do not need to live chastely.

Martin has also notably encouraged same-sex “marriages,” suggested that Catholic teaching about the sinfulness of homosexual acts is not “authoritative,” and recently appeared to defend giving puberty blockers to children with gender dysphoria.

Martin’s dissident conference

The Outreach conference included numerous high-profile pro-LGBT Catholic figures, such as Bishop John Stowe of Lexington, Kentucky, who has joined “pride blessing” ceremonies and attacked the Church’s teaching on homosexuality.

One of the keynote speakers of the conference was Fr. Bryan Massingale, an openly homosexual priest and Fordham University professor who supports same-sex “marriage” and has denied the existence of absolute moral laws.

Notorious LGBT activist Sister Jeannine Gramick, co-founder of New Ways Ministry, also addressed the conference. The Vatican permanently banned Gramick from pastoral work with homosexual individuals over her wholesale rejection of Catholic teaching on sexuality, though she has openly defied the order for decades.

Among the most egregious speakers was Dr. Colt St. Amand, a woman who presents herself as a “transgenderqueer Two Spirit man.” St. Amand, a psychologist, provides “mental health letters” for “face, chest/breast, and genital surgeries” for “transgender” clients and assists them to obtain puberty blockers and “transition in school,” her website states.

According to Martin, Cardinal Dolan had previously lent his support to a pro-LGBT conference that the dissident priest had planned for 2020 but which was postponed due to COVID-19. A video featuring speakers who were set to address the event predictably included challenges to Catholic sexual ethics.

Dolan’s endorsement of Outreach follows similar backing from Pope Francis, who wrote a letter to Martin in May published through Outreach condemning Catholics’ alleged “rejection” of people who identify as LGBT.

At a time of global instability, nuclear tensions and war in Europe, the US Armed Forces have embarrassed themselves by taking a time-out to promote "Pride Month" among the watching world.

This wrongheaded preoccupation with the LGBT ideology across society is weakening our country in a number of ways, not least as it undermines the bedrock of society - the family.

It's time to tell the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, that we have had enough LGBT propaganda in the armed forces.

SIGN the petition - remind the Secretary of Defense that "Pride Month" only makes us weaker.

Marking the start of Gay Pride Month this week, the US Marines tweeted an image of a military helmet with 6 bullets in LGBT rainbow colors and the words "ready to serve" written on it.

Many responses highlighted the foolishness of an army, who wish to be feared, promoting such ideologies.

This comparison of recruitment videos from the Chinese, Russian and US armies shows how the LGBT ideology has infiltrated our country and taken military focus away from strength on the battlefield.

How can the U.S. be respected as a super-power by our enemies if we continue to make our armed forces more effeminate, being prouder of the rainbow flag than the Stars and Stripes?

The woke agenda of normalizing LGBT behaviors among children, adults and the armed forces is a war on reality, as more and more young people find themselves confused about their gender, their attractions, and even what the purpose of sex is.

To understand how pervasive the LGBT ideology is, consider this: only 1.3% of those born before 1946 identified as LGBT in March 2021, compared to a whopping 15% of young people born between 1997-2002.

Mainstream media, educational institutions, politicians, and even some of the armed forces are conditioning the public to believe this is normal and healthy - it's not.

While all people must be respected, not all behaviors should be celebrated or condoned, lest society become decadent, degenerate and too selfish to make sacrifices.

SIGN the petition to remind the Secretary of Defense that he serves the Stars and Stripes, not the rainbow flag.

The need for virtue both in society and the armed forces is great, in order to strengthen this country's ability to choose what is good and defend it.

In choosing to promote sexual behaviors and gender identities that are not based in nature, the armed forces have chosen vice instead of virtue.

Promoting the sexual revolution and other fashionable trends will have consequences, one of them being the decline of true and good men and women willing to stand by their families, their country and their flag during times of hardship.

Tell the Secretary of Defense that time-tested values matter, and the LGBT ideology should not be promoted.

Thank you for taking the time to sign our petition.

‘Absolutely heresy’

But days before the June conference, Cardinal Gerhard Mueller, former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, took a different tone, slamming Martin’s activism as “heresy” in an interview with LifeSite’s John-Henry Westen.

Martin “cannot change” Church teaching about homosexuality, even “with all his political actions, and his networking, and all the propaganda he is making,” the eminent German cardinal said. “What he’s doing, that is a heresy, absolutely heresy. Nobody can justify it.”

“And it is absolutely clear that for every priest, cardinal, and the pope, every bishop must be absolutely faithful to the revealed faith and to the natural law which is given to us” Cardinal Mueller continued.

The teaching of the Catholic Church on homosexual behavior has remained essentially unchanged since the first century. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, Sacred Tradition “has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered,’” in accordance with Sacred Scripture, which “presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity.”

“They are contrary to the natural law” and “do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved,” the Catechism adds.

The Catechism additionally reiterates that the homosexual inclination “is objectively disordered” and stresses that God creates every human person male or female. “Each of them, man and woman, should acknowledge and accept his sexual identity,” the Catechism insists.

The catholic church is dead. Just like so many protestant churches. Infiltrated like our schools, government, and all other anchors of our former society. Marxism is deadly when allowed to flourish and accepted as legitimate alternative to democracy. We should have stamped it out over 100 years ago. RIP US Republic.

If James Martin is doing “outreach” to the LGBTQ community, its likely because he’s just looking for new sex partners.

“No one should ever feel that they are alienated from God’s love or ineligible for His grace and mercy.”

People in a state of mortal sin have alienated themselves from God's Sanctifying Grace, and are desperately in need of His mercy through His Grace of repentance and conversion.

Sodomy and other homosexual acts are all mortal sins. So are sexual adultery and fornication.

Do either of them support receiving Communion in the hand? If so, then we really know we are in the End Times.

Seriously, no one takes Fr. Martin seriously. Not real Catholics who know their Church and the nut jobs in it. Cardinals included.

Speaking of aberrant behavior: did Fr. Pavone ever apologize for putting an aborted fetus on display on a church’s altar?

Certainly abortion itself is an abomination. But if *that* wasn’t sacrilege I don’t know what is.

Like I said, wacky crap in the Church. For centuries even. Yet She survives. Almost like the Church is divinely protected or something…

The catholic church is dead.

The death of the Catholic Church has been announced many, many times over the last 2000+ years and has buried all who thought they had killed it. This includes many bishops and a few Popes. But the gates of hell have not prevailed against it.

Thanks for that bit of encouragement. We do get a lot of depressing news around here. It can weigh on a person.
