Amazing that Illinois, like too many other states, is about as Red as they can get but, sadly, has a few cities and adjacent suburban areas that ruin them all.
Implement a state level “electoral college” using the results from each county, instead of the popular vote and the Dem controlled cities swaying every election. This trajectory of this country changes very quickly.
Great point! It will never happen in Illinois, unfortunately.
The democrats are great on espousing “fairness” as long as the deck is always stacked in their favor.
A state level "electoral college" for the selection of Senators would result from the repeal of the Seventeenth Amendment.
At present, Republicans have full control of the legislative branch in 30 states. Democrats have full control of the legislative branch in 18 states.
Thus, under the original Constitution, at present there would be without question 60 Republican and 36 Democrat Senators. The remaining 4 Senators would be the result of a struggle in divided State legislatures. A likely outcome would be a deal whereby one Senator from each party is selected. That would make a 62 R -- 38 D Senate.
However, under the Seventeenth Amendment direct election of Senators, Democrats use their urban fraud machines to overwhelm the rest of the State.
