A Russian player in the National Hockey League (NHL), Ivan Provorov unleashed controversy on January 17 after declining to wear a jersey with LGBTQ+ "Pride" markings during pregame warm-ups with the Philadelphia Flyers team, citing religious objections.
National Hockey League player Ivan Provorov’s Philadelphia Flyers’ jersey has reportedly sold out online after he made headlines by opting not to wear an LGBTQ-themed jersey during warm-ups ahead of his team’s game against the Anaheim Ducks on January 17.
The jerseys of the Russian defenseman, who has played for the Philadelphia Flyers since first starting his NHL career in 2016, were advertised as “almost gone” in men’s sizes by both the NHL Shop and Fanatics online manufacturer and retailer of licensed sportswear. The men’s jersey for the Russian was purportedly only available in an extra-small size on the two above-mentioned sites.
The woke media had a field day after Provorov, born in Yaroslavl, Russia, and a member of the Russian Orthodox Church, had the courage to remain true to his faith on the day in question.
During the warmup, all of the Russian's teammates had tugged on Pride-themed jerseys and wrapped their hockey sticks in the trademark rainbow colors of the LGBTQ+ movement, while Provorov lingered in the locker room. Once the Flyers sealed their 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks, Provorov defended his religiously-based move, saying:
“I respect everybody and I respect everybody’s choices. My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion.”
Flyers coach John Tortorella also defended Provorov’s decision in a statement, saying:
"With [Provorov], he is being true to himself and to his religion. It’s one thing I respect about Provy: he’s always true to himself...Why would I bench him? Because of a decision he’s making on his beliefs and his religion?”

Happens pretty often, this is nice news.
Flyers, NHL, and LGBTQ+ organizations score an own goal.
Control, conform or be an outcast on social media. No, I will not conform nor will I bow down to the social media, its fools in command or the government. I only bow to my lord and savior, my creator, Jesus Christ.
While the Flyers are one of my least favorite teams, I have to salute Provorov.
Not sure what the Wokists were thinking, attempting to coerce men who wear full body armor and do battle with clubs. Bar none, Hockey players are the toughest SOB’s playing in sports, save Rugby and Australian rules football players. I’ve seen players sporting upwards of 100 stitches, return to the game after nearly having their face torn off.

Provorov was hit in the face by a puck last night. Thankfully, he seemed OK and continued to play. However, some of the comments on places like Twitter are what is to be expected by the “open-minded, tolerant and diverse” left. Truly wishing and hoping for injury and calling it “karma.” Oh, he also scored a goal.
I saw this constantly on conservative news shows on this story.

Haven’t yet read their article on Zulocks, homosexual Georgia couple who raped and prostituted their 9 & 11 year old adopted sons. Wonder if Sputnik covered the fact that the homosexual couple were able to adopt quickly, even though one homosexual had been accused of child sexual molestation?
This doesn’t even have to be religious... Why would a non-gay dude want to wear a bunch of gay pride bullshit? On national television?
