The two are mutually exclusive. Not necessarily- depends on why the person admired John Paul II. I know of some -like yourself no doubt, who admired John Paul II but detest the actions of Francis. I know others who liked John Paul II but like Francis even more.
Certainly, John Paul II was a "popular" pope, but give the state of Catholicism and what was going on at that time- being popular is not necessarily a credit.

Their aim is division... that is their motivation, and "Joy"
And what better way than to achieve their end,
than by trashing JPII,
conflating his life, his Papacy with this very flawed one of Francis'.
