Dennis Prager recently generated controversy by offering a series of defenses and rationalizations of grave sexual sins, including pornography. In the course of his remarks, Prager, who is Jewish, expressly rejected the Lord’s admonition concerning adultery of the heart (Matthew 5:28). “That phrase does not appear, obviously, in the Hebrew Bible,” he stated, further asserting that Judaism tends to be “behavior-based” while Christianity tends to be “heart-based.”

Be careful with Prager. I don’t trust him.

ROFL. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Or was it “with all your behavior, at least the ones men catch you at”?
Christ just explained to these stubborn ones that nobody except Him fulfilled the human side of the covenant.

Psalm 51:16-17 For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted. A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Prager is NOT an observant Jew. Period. I know a rabbi who is furious at him for presenting himself as some kind of authority on all things Jewish when as the rabbi said “he knows nothing!” Pornography is NOT acceptable in any way in Jewish law, and “wasting seed” from masturbation is a HUGE sin. A son of Judah was killed by an enraged God for merely pulling out of Tamar so she would not become pregnant and spoil her gorgeous figure.

There are probably around 100 or more (just guessing) in the Old Testament where God wants us to serve Him from our heart.

I like Prager, but if he wants to focus on behavior, isn’t indulging in pornography a behavior?

I did not hear what Prager said. But I was told, that he said it is better to watch pornography, than for a man to cheat on his wife.
That seems to be a very awkward moral or ethical issue to discuss.
To: Dilbert San Diego
That *is* cheating on your wife - seeking sexual fulfillment outside of the marriage.

OK
So what part of you do you want to get to Heaven?
Your behaviors (your actions), or your heart (your thoughts, soul, and being)?
PS, in the OT, God told them your actions cannot get you to Heaven; no one can fulfill the law.

.and “wasting seed” from masturbation is a HUGE sin. A son of
Judah was killed by an enraged God for merely pulling out of
Tamar so she would not become pregnant
and spoil her gorgeous figure. I think you could be getting your Tamars mixed up. And what was I was always told...
Onan was killed because he did not obey God and was just posing as to follow the marriage law and required to impregnate his brother's wife -
and didn't want to produce an heir that would compromise his (Onan's) current and future inheritance.
Disobedience and Greed motives.
God was pissed Onan was cheating his obligations to the Law-
dissing God's will- and his own clan's rights.
The interruptus part of spilling the seed was simply the method he used-
to accomplish his scam, but was not killed for this reason.
The seed spilling has always taken on a life of its own
in this regard,
which is being taken out of its context.
I don't know if that is a defense Prager uses with regard for a self-pleasuring defense...
but it certainly can carry sinful reasons on many levels... though sins that would usually not require one to be killed over...
