Boortz is no longer shocking to me, when I remember that he believes the government should only have one purpose, and one power... to provide national security for its citizens. When you characterize his comments within that framework, they become easier to understand. It isn't a matter of whether or not his position is moral... it has to do with how very far he wishes to LIMIT the government's control over the citizens.

Hospitals and doctors take people to court all the time to intervene on behalf of the patient. It is amazing that no one will do this for Terri even before tubes were ordered removed, etc.

I thought the hospital - on the advice of their attorneys - gave Terri antibiotics against the wishes of Michael, after which he had her removed from the hospital and transferred to the hospice.

At the moment, her parents are being barred by Michael Schiavo.

The hospital is playing mum, but it appears that around 9:30 P.M. last night (Tuesday), her re-hydration began.

There's a court session that is in regard to establishing a new guardian, but we do not know anything yet.

This story was found by Freeper Gelato, a couple hours ago:

AAPS Doctors: Schindler-Schiavo is Not a 'Death with Dignity' Issue

10/22/03 1:58:00 PM

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) issued this statement from Jane M. Orient, M.D., in response to the emergency action of the Florida legislature to reinstate feeding and hydration of Terri Schindler-Schiavo:

"Terri Schindler-Schiavo has won a temporary stay from execution by a method too cruel to be used for convicted criminals. And yet her husband's attorney is trying to spin it into a 'death with dignity issue' with his comments on Tuesday.

"He says it's cruel to begin rehydration. The opposite is true -- dehydration is a cruel, painful death. It is unconscionable that the state ordered removal of her feeding tube in the first place -- it's nothing less than state-sponsored euthanasia.

"She is not dependent on advanced medical interventions. Nothing is mechanically pumping her blood, or forcing oxygen into her lungs. She is simply being fed through a gastrostomy tube. Would we allow a retarded child to be starved to death?

"Some physicians believe that Terri could be rehabilitated to some extent, at least so that she could swallow oral feedings and eliminate the need for the tube. She should be allowed to try, but so far her husband has blocked every attempt to see whether she can swallow. Doctors have offered pro bono treatment, if money is the barrier for her husband.

"Although severely disabled, some believe that she does have the capacity to communicate a desire to live. The husband has obstructed efforts at rehabilitation or independent assessments of his wife's true state.

"Where are the 'compassionate end-of-life' groups such as the Robert Wood Johnson 'Last Acts' initiative, and why aren't they weighing in on this?

"The ethical question for her nurses and physicians is whether they will cooperate in carrying out a death warrant.

"And the ethical question for all of us is whether we will allow the state to obstruct the efforts of people who want to provide medical care to a patient who wants to receive it.

"If we go down that path, who's to say what treatment the state will prevent you from getting?"

Like others, I assume this means Terri knows something Michael is terrified she might repeat if she gets well. Wow, I did not know that. I'll bet you are right. He is a Ba$tard !!

I am so happy to see this clear statement from a respected
organization of doctors.

More evidence of prayers being answered.

I'm still awaiting news of status of a new guardian appointment.

Just this morning, I saw the end of a t.v. newscast that said all but $50,000 of Terri's funds from the $1 million award are frozen.

Granted, I was half asleep, but am positive I heard "frozen." Don't know what channel. Nuts!

Sorry. I was thinking that under any law in any state, a guardian is to be there to make sure their ward gets everything they are entitled to under the constitution. That someone who is not a medical doctor was allowed to make and have the final say on a persons medical treatment is absurd to say the least, and medically negligent to say the most. This just shows how corrupt and nasty the judge, Schiavo, and Felos are. Thanks for your comments!

So much for Civil Liberties. The ACLU should have been sued out of existence a long time ago. They have nothing to do with Civil Liberties. Terri was denied her right to religion. They make me sick. Soon they will be reduced to a fringe organization that no one takes seriously. It is already happening. Anytime someone says "ACLU", everyone sighs and they roll their eyes.

Is there anyone we can contact to see if any action is being taken to set the guardian ad liem? And if any actions are being taken by him (Jeb?) Are they working on that now?

Folks, I've been checking on the net all day to find out if anything is being done to protect her. My heart is breaking. I just don't understand how any word of Terri's condition can be hide so well.

I don't want to post often with opinions, real news would be great. The freeper who is there in Clearwater, has anyone heard from her?

To each of you, God Bless You.

A newbie but long time lurker,

"Hospitals and doctors take people to court all the time to intervene on behalf of the patient. It is amazing that no one will do this for Terri even before tubes were ordered removed, etc."

This is quote of another's post, not mine.

Your statement "I thought the hospital - on the advice of their attorneys - gave Terri antibiotics against the wishes of Michael, after which he had her removed from the hospital and transferred to the hospice," --- points out very well what I've been saying. Doctors are acting on the advice of their attorneys. In their own best interests legally. And when they do something good for Terri, Michael Schiavo has the right to remove her from their care. A judge gave him guardianship. Gave him the power to put her to death, never mind select her doctors.
Some people find this surprising. Good people usually presume good intentions in others. In this case Michael Schiavo has stated his actual intentions publicly, repeatedly. He wants her dead. I expect he will use his guardianship powers to achieve that immoral end, if no one steps in as guardian ad litem.

Yes, you are right about that. This occured when she had the bladder infection and is it well documented he wanted to let it go until it was fatal. The Judge makes me sick. I have sent him many e-mails. Is anyone else FReeping the Judge?

The pro-death attorney is all over the news making it sound like it's Jeb Bush and Terri's parents who are hurting Terri, when all along for 13 years the husband has been denying her therapy that could very well have enabled her to recover.

God bless Jeb Bush and the courageous lawmakers who voted to feed the poor woman. What an inhumane way to sentence someone to die -- death by starvation. We are kinder to our pets than we are to our people.

Pray. Pray hard. Pray to Jesus, ask the Blessed Mother to intercede for Terri's life. Ask St. Teresa, Terri's namesake, to pray for her. God has performed greater miracles than saving a starving woman. Perhaps He wants her in heaven, and that is His right. Perhaps He has given us this test to see what we will do. Whatever the reason, whatever His goal, all we can do, as His humble servants, is to stand up for the right to life, for the poor and weak, the young and old, the born and unborn.

Tennessee Walkers are poetry in motion, but I only ever rode one and that was many years ago. Most of my experiences has been with Arabians, Appaloosas, Quarter horses and Thoroughbreds. Of those, I guess I'm kinda partial to Arabs. There was also a Morgan I used to ride. Nice horse. I did ride the draft horses on the farm when I was kid....mules too. That was always fun, especially bareback (of course) but not quite the same.

I read that Terri had wanted to be a vet. Wouldn't it be wonderful if she could be rehabilitated enough to be in one of the therapeutic riding programs? Wow. Something to work towards maybe?

In FL, what determines if a GAL is capable of determining what is best for the patient? I wonder if ANYONE could ever rise to the level of medical expertise to understand Terri's condition, unless they were a member of the medical profession.

"positive I heard "frozen."

That has also been posted on the threads, although I think it is that all of it is supposedly gone except for $50,000 which is frozen, all frittered away on lawyers fees with the blessing of god Judge Greer..
