There is a possibility Atlantis was destryoyed as a result of the massive volcanic explosion that occurred at Santorini, some time during the Greek era.
Santorini exploded in 1628BC. I don't believe this was the end of Atlantis...Plato said 9,000 years ago. I do believe the 1628BC explosion of Santorini/Akatori/Thera provided the 'action' for the Jewish Exodus out of Egypt though.
Ironically, a fellow named Joseph Nazi owned the island in the 1300's.
