INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A woman who wrote books about ways to profit from government loopholes was charged Tuesday with stealing almost $83,000 from Social Security.
Dianne Holmes-Despain, 51, allegedly collected disability benefits while she was writing books and magazine articles, and teaching college courses from 2000-02, authorities said.
Holmes-Despain claimed she was unable to work because of rheumatoid arthritis and used her husband's Social Security number to hide that she was working, prosecutors said.
"She was always writing about secrets - government secrets, money secrets, the secrets you should know," Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi said. "All the time she was trying to keep her true identity secret from Social Security."
Holmes-Despain faces charges of corrupt business influence, theft, welfare fraud, conspiracy to commit welfare fraud and 14 counts of forgery. Her husband, Joel J. Despain, was charged with conspiracy to commit welfare fraud.

Hey, better a hard working fraud, than one that's sitting home on her @ss watching Jerry Springer. :)
Put her in prison and have her work for 50 cents a day until she pays it all back.
Hmm let me think. She profited big off making book about government loopholes, yet hung herself in SS fraud. Seems like someone was NOT doing her homework. Worked really well for her. Hah.
Glad to see that there is some justice left in the world.
She'll run some scam in prison, become a pruno magnate or something.
She has got to be a (L) Kerri supporter. This B'atch, is what hurts the people with real disablities who apply for SSA Disablity. I hope she goes to jail for a long time without pay. Reminds me of a case involving a US Deputy Marshal, who was receiving federal workmans compenstion. He was sooo, injured that he was leading hunting safaris for cash and while receiving federal workers comp. The Bum got caught, but this was during the klintoon years. I would imagine if he were a FOB that he received a promotion and a performance incentive cash award. Possibly, he could not recall that he was receiving workman's comp.

Uh, here's one for you, Dianne: DON'T USE SOMEBODY ELSE'S SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!
Sheesh...
