Thanks. Another part of my past gone. Dang I'm feeling old! Do you know where the AF has its Inventory Management tech school now?
To: TXnMA
I loved going to the mountains on weekends. I also had relatives at the time in Colorado Springs. Great area.
To: Libloather
Thanks. When I went through tech school there, it was a self-paced course; hardly any classes. As long as you finished in 6 weeks, you were okay, probably even 7 or 8. I wasn't the only Airman to make the course last all 6 weeks! Great area.

I want to say Sheppard.
Bukley ANGB is now Buckley AFB. A full blown air base and major intel center. It has significantly grown, including massive buildings, base facilities, housing, etc.
To: Blue Scourge
Thank you for going. I'll be praying for you.

I'm sorry the gods of AFPC rained on your parade and put you in the right seat of an RC-135, E-3 or E-8. But look at the positive side: think of all the four-engine heavy experience you're getting--it will look great on your resume when your commitment's up. and you can go to work for the airline. Of course, by that time, most of them will be bankrupt, but that's another story.
On the other hand, you can stay in and join the cadre for the new E-10, which is supposed to replace AWACS and Rivet Joint in the near future. Now, you've got twice as many kids in the back end of the airplane! I know, because I once was a backender in a USAF battle management aircraft. And BTW, you guys in the RJ/AWACS community had it easier than I did; Try spending 15.9 hours aloft in a C-130.

Best wishes to you. My dad did pretty good in the AF (48-68) for a depression era North Carolina boy with a sixth grade education. Thank you for your service.

I'm actually just being an idiot and giving you a hard time. The closest I've been to any of those aircraft has been from the boom of a 135. Not that I'm a boomer; I was just watching. I would be more than happy to sit right seat on any one of those aircraft. Right now I'm just the idiot who makes sure the GPS is still working.

Actually, I'm looking to get into 130s. AC or MCs. We'll see in a little less than a year.

Good Luck! Trust me you'll remember basic for the rest of your life. A few words of advice, do not brown-nose (TIs can spot 'em a mile away), live and breath team work (seek out and help the weakest troops), and take as many pictures as you can. Twenty-two years later and I still fall out laughing when I look at those old pics.
