This morning, KOGO reports that the Jeopardy episopde that shows Ken Jennings two-million+ winning streak come to an end will be aired tonight. The show was taped some time ago.
When I was in 5th grade, we learned the states and capitals. I took to memorizing things very easily back then. We also played a game called "Around the World" where people would go around the classroom and compete head-to-head. Whoever got the question right first would advance. The loser would sit down. Well, I got into a groove on Monday, ran the table, and kept going until the period was over. I started it off the next day, and the next, and the next. Other classes came over to watch. On Friday afternoon, with about 5 minutes left in the class, I froze on Illinois, and my best friend beat me.
Now, I had been asked the question about Illinois probably 10 times that week, and got it right each time. I just froze and the ballgame was over.
I'd like to know also, I won't be able to see it.
They guy has won 2.4 million, not a bad haul. Last show tonight?? Good to know, I'm going to bet my wife he doesn't win! hehehehe! She's addicted to the show.
As far as Ken goes, He'd be good to have as a lifeline on "who want's to be a millionare". I guess his friends have a hard time finding something to talk about that Ken doesn't know.
I was a good speller in Jr High; with only me and one guy standing for the school championship, I lost on "bookkeeping". I was stunned.
I have to know too! Then I can make sure I have the right answer and appear smarter to my wife, LOL!
Does he actually lose due to being fairly beaten, or does he take a dive just to move on with his life?
He probably wanted to move onto another job where he would earn about $30,000 for every twenty minutes of work.
Final Question wrong, FedEx not H&R Block.
Yep, 2.5 million in 6 months just wasn't good enough.
Haven't seen a single one.
This can be annoying if geniuses don't mind their manners. I had an uncle like that, brilliant man. And a total self-absorbed bore. My dad always said: Ask him what time it is and he'll tell you how the watch was made. Say "nice weather" and he'll tell you why.
You are correct, of course, on the numbers.
I wonder if the question was "what won best picture of 1956"?
Yeah, it must end tonight because this is what the Jeopardy site says for November 30, 2004:
Ken appears on The Late Show with David Letterman (11:30 EST broadcast)
Nightline piece featuring Ken Jennings airs (11:35 pm EST)
Jeopardy comes on in Atlanta at 4:30pm.
My husband and I have been following Ken's appearances from the beginning. Even my 7 year old knows Ken now.
Just saw the show.
Ken loses.
I've got a meeting tonight, so I'll miss it. Is it worth taping?
It wasn't that exciting of a show. Jennings was looking like he'd breeze through another win. He lost it on wrong double jeopardy questions. Even with missing those questions he only needed to answer the final question correct to win.
It is very surprising that he would miss the final question. Seemed kind of obvious to me.
I think I'll tape the last 15 minutes. I want to see what kind of a player beat him.
Do you think he fudged on the answer?
