Thank God I don't live near the ocean!
It is never safe to leave the shower. ;~)
Yeah.... I know. We all die. The day I'm gone will hopefully be the day that volcano blows its stack.
tsunami smame... think asteroids !!!
I don't know about the rest of you, I'm glad I'm a pilot.
Catch a wave.......
hey i liked the link to the g@y bar flash on your profile... kitties are coooollll....
Cool! I could watch it come in from the top of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge!
hmmm...is this where all the northern Blue state voters live?
NYC gets a 50 Meter wave, kiss it good bye.
I've researched this extensively and the consensus among respected scientists in the field is that the tsunami generated by such an event would be about one meter high by the time it reached the Eastern seaboard. The worst case scenario would appear to be an additional high tide that day.
Publish it long enough and it's bound to happen.
Ahh...let it happen, I've got a speed bump called the Smokeys between me and the Atlantic. Besides, I'm more concerned about the New Madrid fault.
I don't believe a land slide that occurs over several minutes would have much more than a local effect.
An earthquake releases energy in less then a millisecond.
Oooookay. . .how about the Gulf of Mexico?
You see, I used to live in Marin County, CA; inland. We had a massive tidal surge alongside floodings. My #(*^% Fiat was in for repairs (yet again) at Mellow Motors of Greenbrae. Mellow Motors was located right near a delta waterway. Sure enough, after the worst was over, I went out with waders and a camera. Had to hop a fence (in waders!!), and there sat my Fiat in the roadway, driver's door open.... in 4 feet of salt water. The waters rose so fast, the mechanics tried getting the cars out -- but couldn't outpace the surge.
Of course, only foreign cars were being worked on ... Bentleys, Beamers, Volvos (a fitting and righteous death for Volvos, IMHO)... but my heart broke seeing two Rolls' submerged... Salt water -- no repair, no salvage. Scrap.
(guess that joke's getting old)
Interesting...but I still think you're much more likely to die in a car accident.
Sounds like time for a "controlled burn," so to speak.
Knock some of that stuff down ahead of time.
Muttly would do it...for FREE !
