It's been no particular secret that Chuck Hagel aspires to be president one day. Is illegal immigration the vehicle to propel him there? I haven't seen his proposal for immigration from last year, it will be interesting to look up. Evidently he can read polls, although if he were really serious Jim Inhofe would not have been the only republican Senator to vote against the intelligence reform that left out any illegal immigration provisions.

I am ashamed to say that this idiot is my US Senator. I as GOP are more proud of Sen Nelson (A DEM) that I am of this moron.

HAGEL:
If they want to stay and be part of our society, let's find them. That's not amnesty. We're talking about six basic things. We're talking about criminal records. Have they paid their taxes? Have they been here five years? They're going to have to pay a $1,000 fine. Will somebody vouch for them? Are they working now? This is not amnesty.

You guys are so transparent, if you were true to your usual rhetoric on FR, you would be demanding Hagel ship them all out in boxcars.

In reality Hagel and the President are on the same page.

"We've got 10 to 12 million immigrants here illegally. We don't even know where they are. We don't know who they are. We need to start getting some sense of that to begin with, so we can concentrate on the problem areas and the problem people."

Don't know where to look? Try going to Home Depot or Lowe's. How is that for starters!

"...we can't just put Band-aids on it, talking about driver's licenses. Those are just symptoms of a bigger problem. We've got to get into a very core discussion and action on reforming our entire immigration process."

"Reform" will just be a band-aid. Until mexico reforms itself, we'll continue to have problems. Stand up, mexicans!!

Don't know to much about Hagel, I do know that our Borders have been neglected far to long, especially for a country at WAR!

The Eletist have their own agenda that differs greatly from the American People. The so called "New World Order" and World Government that they seem to believe is th ebest for all of us. They have some work to do in convincing the American People to give up their Constitutional Unalienable rights that are derived from GOD! They want our rights to be dictated to us by the Government.

Both parties have their Elietist and the Bush I has referred to the New Word Order on several occasions. When the borders are secured, Walls, fences and control points I might start to believe them, when the Illegals are being deported I'll feel a little better. The the Muslim Problem, I don't believe they will defend the US Constitution against their brother Muslims.

The Dutch want the Muslims thrown out as does Sweden. Germany I believe has started to deport the Muslim Trouble makers. I pray they don't start trouble here, they will find out what a Right Wing Heavily Armed Cowboy is like nothing they have ever seen.

Many of us are concerned about illegal immigration, but I don't know whether this issue can give anyone the nomination in '08. In order to gain our support, an anti-illegal immigration candidate is going to have to propose some strong changes that will greatly offend those who don't understand the danger of illegal immigration. Taking those unpopular stands is likely to lose more votes than it gains. Furthermore, I can't see Senator Hagel taking any truly unpopular stand for very long. He seems to be more of a windsock than a compass.

This is Tancredo's moment!!!

They say people don't vote on one issue, but I think illegal immigration and could belie that assertion -- open borders is the #1 issue facing all of us -- by a long shot.

Thanks for the ping.

I find it interesting that people are starting to realize there is a problem here. What saddens me, is that too many of them seem inclined to sweep the problem under the carpet, and pretend it's all fixed.

Here Hagel makes it plain that in the end, his solution is no different that Bush's solution. Legalize what the illegal alien is doing, and viola, the universe is perfect aligned again. No, it won't be.

Ending the incentives that beckon illegal immigrants to our shores, will end the endless stream of them headed our way. Those here would also leave since a viable living would no longer be available to them.

Conjured up portrayals of bulging boxcars, door to door searches and the like are shameless ploys of the uninformed.

The illegal alien has been trucked, bused and flown back to their nation of origin for over half a century. This was done in a humane and orderly manor. People who are here without having gone through the normal channels to do so, need to be repatriated to their nation of origin.

It's no more inhumane to return illegal aliens to their nation of origin than it is to punish people who break our other laws. Commit an illegal act, and you will be punished accordingly. The illegal alien is no different in that regard.

Those who profit from the illegal alien subculture, will continue to advocate for criminality. Those who do are no different than those who advocate for other criminals to get away with the laws they break.

There will always be some among us, who like toying with the netherworld of anarchy. They will be recognized for what they are.

I'm surprised Tancredo and Glenn Spencer don't have ulcers. They have bene hitting their heads against brick walls
trying to get people to wake up on illegal immigration problems. I don't even know who Hagel is.

It just stuns me that our first step after 9-1-1 wasn't sealing our borders and going after illegal immigrants. It's mind-boggling.

Thanks for the Ping.

Hegel wants to legalize (amnesty) most of the illegals who are here, among other things. He is NOT for us, the American Citizens!
