PRESERVED T. Rex Soft Tissue RECOVERED (Pic)

WASHINGTON — For more than a century, the study of dinosaurs has been limited to fossilized bones. Now, researchers have recovered 70-million-year-old soft tissue, including what may be blood vessels and cells, from a Tyrannosaurus rex.

If scientists can isolate proteins from the material, they may be able to learn new details of how dinosaurs lived, said lead researcher Mary Higby Schweitzer of North Carolina State University.

"We're doing a lot of stuff in the lab right now that looks promising,'' she said in a telephone interview. But, she said, she does not know yet if scientists will be able to isolate dinosaur DNA from the materials.

The soft tissues were recovered from the thighbone of a T. rex, known as MOR 1125, that was found in a sandstone formation in Montana. The dinosaur was about 18 years old when it died.

[ There's a little part in the back of my brain that can't help but think it might actually be kinda cool if dinosaurs were running around eating people. ]
The Bible describes creation. It does not give the date it started. And, furthermore, there are likely thousands of years of gaps in time that Scripture does not record. After Adam etc., no doubt there are perhaps even millions of years missing at points. It doesn't just go from Adam to Noah in a couple generations.
Actually most math geniuses admit that it is possible using a 1% growth rate (which accounts very well for war and disease) to get to 6 billion in a matter of 6000 or so years.

Also, I have a hard time understanding why Scripture would put ages and even "death dates" in Genesis if they were openeded ages like Germanic theologians claim they are.

>>>>Well, science doesn't support the idea that the Earth is 6000 years old. Just go look at cliffs and then realize how long it takes for each layer to build up.<<<<

Or it could be a massive erruption from the crust that threw up huge ammounts of water and mud and explains the rapid expasion of the continents, but that hold world-wide flood is better explained by claiming ice age.

The Stars could be explained because placing them there is different than having them get there.

Or you can have a Old Universe Theory of Creation. That God created the universe with a Big Bang, but it took billions of years, then he created the earth through special creation.

Some consider verse one to be seperate from the 7 days of creation. Either way the real issue is the rationality or irrationality of Theism and Material Monism. Everything we know about Matter is that it points to it being temporal, otherwise there wouldn't be so many games to try to get around the Big Bang. Why? The Big Bang points directly to Theism.

>>>> I know 70 million is a big number to you, but lots of other people can count that high.<<<<

Last time I checked it was actually the Creationists who had to have a basic understanding and belief in the numerical value of Infinite, which is a little bit larger than 70 million.

Why do we dream if our thoughts mean nothing?

It's the brain's way of filing data.

The main assumption that C-14 dating makes is that the ratio of C-14 and C-12 in the atmosphere has been constant over time, or that variations can be corected by using dating done where the date of death is historically known. The further we go back, the more questionable those assumptions become (especially to those of us who assume a world-wide flood.)

Of course, it doesn't matter, because no one with a lick of sense would believe Methuselah lived 900 years anyway.

Genesis 5:27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

The word of God says it, I believe it.

Thanks for thinking less of me.

Gilgamesh and the Sumerians lived thousands of years BEFORE there were any Jews.

Most of the literature of his time discussed him. In fact, this fellow shows up at the dawn of history. Before him there's nothing but archaeological speculation, but the Sumerians invented writing and left vast stores of records.

Apparently not aways. Or at least the minerals can be dissolved out as in this case.

The first is an approximation, but not a bad one. The second is a perfectly valid correction. And small errors don't help you. If a sample has 1/10 of the modern concentration fo C-14, there would have to be an error of 500% to make it consistent with a young universe. The can count C-14 atoms by mass spectrometry to almost arbitrary levels of accuracy.

Sorry; I've read the creationist links a dozen times; i've written critiques of them; they're utterly specious. Believe in a young earth, and you have to argue most of modern physics is wrong. And if most of modern physics is wrong, how come your computer works? How come we managed to put men on the moon? Think we could do those things with 500% errors all over the place?

The historical record on Jesus is actually very limited.

Unlike the FOSSIL record, which is FULL and COMPLETE and hardly needs ANY interpretation!

You don't have 6000 years. Remember Noah?

The Bible does not say Adam was created as a mature man.

It also doesn't 'say' the he walked around on two feet instead of crawling.

I wonder why no one questions THIS???

Hint: It's kinda hard to have 'dominion' over the animals if you AIN'T mature.

It was theorized that the nesting ground was buried by a collapsing sand dune.

But... dinos don't LIVE in the desert, but in marshy areas.

Can YOU actually READ the Torah and understand things without VERBABLE 'commentary' be given to you?
